The meeting was called to order at the hour of ~j0 P.tt.-with t?ayor TI. i~iatieh in the Chair. ...Councilmen: I+`. H. Smith, O.'B: Sheane, F. A: Roach, 3. E. ASills and-N. Matich answered the`Toll call. '' Absent: None. Minutes of the-"previous meeting held on July $th were-'then read by: the Clerk and there being no correcti'oas or omissiohs were approved as read: Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council a communication from the League of California Municipalities advising that the State Board of Equalization have fixed the preliminary valuations of all utility property in the state, however, that these Figures do not represent the final valuations and thPt betvaeen the first and third i+~tondays of August the Board of .Equalization will held continuous. hearings on these valuations for the purpose of equalizing these assessments ' with those made of?'other-'property.-- In order that the League might represent all cities at these hearings it was. urged that all cities make a sma1L contribution to enable them to employ a $aluation engineer to go to Sacramento with Louis Burke, Legal Counsel, and make every effort to sea that the cities interests are protected. '7hereupon it was moved by Councilman R4ills and seconded by Councilman Sheane that it be authorized to contribute $10.00 to the Calif: League of Municipalities for representation at hearings on utility tax valuations, which motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon after Councils further consideration of the proposed Crdinances it wag agreed by Council that the Chair appoint a Committee to make further study of said Ordinances and make their recommendation at the next meeting of Council. i-~~ The Chair appointed Councilmen Roach and 2fills to serve on this committee. Thereupon Councilman Mills reported to Couneil that the Street lighting system in the Country Club Heights addition was in working order other than requiring the _ replacement of higher voltage lamps. P'hereupon Council took up for consideration the matter of filling the vacancy on the City Library Board. tiYhereupon it v;as moved by Councilman P!Pills and seconded by councilman Smith that Clay Scott be appointed to serve as a member on the Library Board for the unexpired term, which motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon Council took for consideration the matter of delinquent water bills and after making a study of the provisions of the vdater Ordinance, it was moved by Councilman 4tfills and seconded by Councilman Roach that the City _ Water Clerk be instructed to send notices before Aug. 1st to all persohs delinquent in their water bills, stating that all v:ater bills must be paid on or before Aug. 20, 1935 and that the Supt. of the YVater Dept. be instructed to shut off all delinquent water services after Aug. 20th as provided for bjr Ord: #211 which motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen:. Smith, Sheane, Roach, P~Sills and ti:atich. Noes: None. Absent: None. Z9 35 Thereupon Councilman Roach reported to Council that the State Firemans i Convention is to be held m Riverside'this'year and th&t the Riverside Fire ~ Dept. is publishing an advertising booklet for the 'purpose o raising funds'to jelp defray expenses and had solicited the .k,`lsinore Firs Dept. to subscribe for space in the booklet and requested that Council take action ori`the matter. ~hereupon'it wgs moved by'Councilman Smith and second'ed'by Councilman f~hills~thet the Fire Commissioner be authortied to contact the Riverside Fire-Dept. and enter into an agreement for advertising space in their bcoklet at least expense possible, vlhich`motion upon vote was carried: Bills as audited by the auditing committee were .then presented to Gauncil and on motion duly made=and oh 'call note carried viers ordered `paid"and the.Clerk was instructed to issue warrants in payment of same. `"'
