A regular meeting of the City Council of ..the City-of Elsinore

N~i11s and N. iUattich`answered the-rollcall.
Absent: None.
Iua notes of the'previous'meeting held on May 13th were then
read by the Clerk ahd there being nc correcbions or omissions
were approved as read.
Thereupon the Clerk presented to`Council''a communication'
from Harry M. Brady, Commander lynn-Mort Post X200 American l,egion',=
extending to Council`s special invitation to attend and partici-
pate in the Memorial parade and'services""to be held at!9:30 kNi. -
Thursday, May 30th.
whereupon it was agreed by Cbuneil to accept the invitation
and that as many of the Council members who can do attend and
participate in the iulemorial day parade and services and that the
L'hief of Police be instructed to notify all business Mouses o
close on that day from 9:30 A.M. to 12 o'clock noon.
Whereupon the Clerk presented to Council the annual t~'ranchise
Tax report of the So. Sierras Power Co. covering the year ending
Dec. 31st,. 1934 and enclosing therewith a check for X127.36 to ~
cover the amount of tax due.
VJherenpon it was moved by Councilman iVills and seconded by
Qouncilmar Hoaeh that the report be accepted and check received
and placed to tre credit. of the general fund, which motion upon
vote was carried. '
Thereupon the Chair requested that the-Clerk read a copy of
suggested letter addressed to the So. Sierras Power Co. of River-
side requesting them tc give consideration to the matter of re-
ducing power and electric rates for the City of Elsinore. ,
The Chair reported that he was submitting. the matter to
Council for their consideration and suggested that they take
action by either approving or rejecting the matter.
Whereupon it was .moved by Goun~ilman Mills and seconded by
Ceunclman Roach that said letter be approved and that the Clerk
be instructed to forward same to the So. Sierras rower Co. River-
side, and aaeopy of said letter to the local office, and tc each
of the cities in Zone "B° (Corona, San Jacinto, Hemet and Ferris)
which motion upon vote was unanimously carried.
Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council a communication
from the hegislative Committee of the Calif. heague of Iiiunici-
palities reporting on legislative bills pas=ed and proposed.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman N.ills and seconded by
Councilman Smith that the Clerk be instructed to forward a letter
to Governor iv;erriam, thanking him for the friendly support which
he gave to the Uas T'ax Bill recently passed by the atate legislature

and also to'forward letters to Senator Oifan and Assemblyman
Phillips protesting the 'proposed-bill which would exempt'Y~hole"salers
from paying local business license, which motion>upoh .vote was
carried.
Thereupon Harry r'rishman, representative of the Elsinore
~ leader Press appeared before Council and reported that it is being
planned to publish a sixteen page special edition of the Leader
Press to be tabloid in size or about one-half the; page-'size of the
regular..editi:bn and t,c.be printed on green paper, a minimum of zOG00`
copies to be printed and distributed from the Riverside County Booth
at the San Diego Exposition. The purpose of the special edition
being to advertise hlsinore and thereby attract many visitors to
this community. He stated that such an edition would have to be
Financed by the sale of advertising space and solicited the Council.
for financial aid by subscribing for several pages of descriptive
advertising of Elsinore.
Upon Councils ecnsideration of the matter it was agreed that
the matter be laid over for further consideration at the next
meeting of Council.
Thereupon Councilman Roach called to Councils attention the
need of entrance signs to the City of Elsinore and upon Councils
consideration of the matter it was agreed that the Chair appoint
she Council as a committee of the whole to investigate the purchase
and placing of three signs at the entrances to the City.
Thereupon the chair reported to Council that he has secured
a one ton Yellow Cab truck from J. R. Bohanan at a rental of ~p3.00
per day, which is being used to haul tree trimmings, with. an option
to purchase said truck at a price of X150.00 with an allowance. of
~25.OC credit for .the .old uhevrolet ~+ater car and asked to be
advised as to Councils wish in the matter.
thereupon it was moved by Councilman xoach and seconded by
Councilman riiills that it be authorized to purchase the used Yellow
- Cab one ton truck from Mr. Bohanan at a price of X150.00 and turn in
the old Chevrolet car at a credit of :25.00, the balance to be paid
in three installments over a period of three months, which motion
was carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Counc3:lmen: Sheane, smith, xoach, tYiills and Tvattieh.
Noes: None.
:ibser~t: Nerve.
VJYaereupon it was moved by Councilman tv:ills and seea~ded by
gouncilman Smith that it be authorized to place Public Liability
and Property Damage insurance on said truck and that said insurance
`be awarded to C. A. Lovejoy, local agent, which motion upon vote
was carried.
Bills as audited by the auditing committee were then presented

to Council and on motion duly made and on call vote carried were ordered paid and the
Clerk-was instructed>to issue-warrants in payment of•same.
Thereupon there being no further business to `come before Gbuneil' -
on motion duly made and:carried council adjourned o meet in regular-
adjo~rned._session;on Tuesday,:.~iay 28th at the hour of 7:30 1.D~i. in the
City Hall:-the usual xieetng;place.
