H. Smith, v. B. Skeane, r'. A. t(oach, J. r:. Dills and N. T~atich answered .the roll call.. ~:bsent: None. l;iinutes.of the previous meeting-held on-April 22nd were then read by the Clerk and there being no corrections or omissions were ` approved"as read. - Thereupon N. F. Zansing a member of the City library Board appeared before Couhcil and reported that it-is'the desire of the Library Board`to'change`the location of the entrance°door to the Library-room and-requested-that they be"granted a permit to make the desred'change.-' Vhereupon it was agreed by Council that the matter be referred to Councilman Skeane, City Ha11-Commissioner, with authority to act on the matter: '- Thereupon the Treasurer's monthly report'was presented tc Council and cn metibn duly made and carried was accepted and ordered Placed on file, Whereupon the-Clerk-presented to Cbuncil:s.communication-from ' _ llr. S. J. Brimhall, Cty.Health Officer stating:. that. in view of .the present-econcmio condition,-he voluntari y offered to reducehis ' fees from X3.00 to;~L.00 per visit and x:1.00 for office calls. Whereupon Councilman dills of the Committee appointed to investigate-the`-Health •Dept.'reported'that he has interviewed i~:r. Jones, the County Health Officer,-and was informed that by arrange- " went with the-County; Board of Supervisors it'is possible to secure the se.rgices of the County Health officer to act as L,~cal health - officer for a very nominal charge. - "The Chair "then volunteered to ~oin;with'Councilman~ua lls and take the matter up with the County Board of`Supervisors.' Vdhereuucn it was moved by Councilman xoaeh.and seconded by Councilman mills that the comsunication from Ur. 5.-J. Brimhall be received and placed on-file for further consideration, cahich i motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council"a communication from C. H.rurcell, State Highway i;ngineer acknowledging receipt of" letter with enclosed copy of zesolution X289 passed by the City vcuneil'requesting''consider<aion in the allocation of'federal- funds for the ir..provement- of Mate riighway noutes 77 and 78-passing- through the City of i1'lsinore and advised that said request will. be made a matter of'recbrd for consideration-by the'~aliforna Highway Commission in the budgeting of t'unds"to be made available , RLGUlAR A:iETII~G QF T.I CI1`l CCUCII. i~iay 13, 1935 under the work 'relief bill recently passed by Congress. -- Gti'hereupon it was suggested by Councilman Rbach that the' Chair contact the President bf the local Chamber-of Commerce and ask their support, by-forwarding a follnw.up letter to ire State Engineer, Purcell, endorsing:Councils application for-.the im- proven;ent of Highway routes 77 and 78 in the City of Elsinore. The Chair agreeing to make the suggested contact. Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council a communication from the So. Sierras Power Co. advising that they have dis- connected the poiver serving a 25 H.F. standby. water pump, and that this-load has been connected to power serving,,: the. sewer plant anal that the charge will result in a saving to the City of .the standby charge of X18.45 for five months of the year. r PThereupon the Chair called tc,Councils attention;-the present inefficient-:lighting system of-.the City and suggested that the Finance Committee make.a study of an investigate the. advisability cf t're installation of an ex±ension to the present, ornamental system. Fire Chief advising that he wild. be absent from the City .for a,.period of thirty days and that Jim Cox has been promoted to the,, position of Asst., Chief subject: to the approval of Council. Thereupon it'was moved: by Councilman Mills and seconded by Councilman Sheane hat the promotion of Jame Cox to the position of ass Fire Chief be approved, which motion:upon,vcte was: carried.;: Thereupon it was called to Councils attention that the, Public liabili y and Proper y Damage Insuranes.on :the City owned cars will expire.:, on May lst,r1935.- /_- Whereupon 3t was moved:by Councilman Roach .and se,eonded ' by Councilman ,Smith that the renewal of his insurane@ be awarded to Ni. ~h'., N.. Beach, local agent, :which motion, upon vote was carried. Thereupon t~ve written apnlioation of Horace T. wood for a permit. to place a CY:urch sign. at the corner of, Kellogg and _. / Gramm. Ave. was presented ±:o Council. Thereupon it was.. duly moved-.and carried that permit requested by Norace:Pu, iN.cod be granted.; 'i'rereupon i't was moved by Councilman Roachand seconded by Councilman Niilla that the. Clerk be instiructed to,forward a-letter to the`So.
