The meeting was called to .order at the hour of x:30 P,N[, with N. Matich, A7ayor Pro-t em in the Chair. Councilmen: F. H. Smith, 0. R. $heane,,F. A. Roach, J. E. ~Aills and N. Matich'answered"the roll call," Absent: None Minutes of the,'`previous meetings held on~March,25th and 27th .were thed read tiy-the -Clerk and there being no corrections or .omissions were approved as read. Whereupon the Treasurer's monthly report,;was presented„t,o Council and-on motion duly made and carried was accepted and ordered 'placed„on.file... Thereupon''the Clerk presented to Council a communication from l~,,W. H. Beach reporting that he has been requested to secure a certificate of clearance on the former water Clerk to cover the, period of eollections,..up to .the time of the,_ °appointment of 'M: Harmon, who has been bonded by his company, Whereupon it was moved by:Councilman, Roach and seconded by Counclman,Nills the:t the Chair appointea'committee to audit the recorda'of the former water clerk and also to make a atudy'of the present water rates and report on same at the next meeting of Council','whch motion upon vote was carried, The Chair appointed Councilmen Smith, Sheane and,,Mi11s to-.serve on this ,';, committee. ,: _, Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council a communication from the Elsinore Volunteer Fire Dept. reporting that they wera:in need.. of some,money_for necessary expenditure s'end`request'ed Council to authoriie~an advance to,the Dept. in the: amount of ~§O:OO which would be repaid. Whereupon it was mooed by`Couneilman, Mills and seconded. by Councilman Roach :_ `that it be authorized to advance the Voluntser.Fire Aept, the::. sum of,.~50,00 with 'the uxiderstanding'that`eaid sum is to be refunded to the City,; which motion-;was carried by the following vote: ' Aye§: Councilmend Smith, Sheane, Roach, Mills and Matich. __ _. Noes: None. _ . Absent: None. ' Thereupon Asst. Fire Chief Keith reported to Council that it is advisable ~ to make a change in the fire siren installation so as to allow frequent tests ~I to ascertain if in working order, without disturbing or using the Automatic control. ~~ " 'Wliereupon it,`was moved by Councilman Smith and seconded by Councilman Roach ;.. that it be author'iied"to have the suggested 'change in fire siren installation - made, which motion upon vote was carried. ~II` Thereupon Councilman Roach reported to Council tha£ it was Father Purcell's REGULAR PdEETI?dG CF THE CITY COUidCIL April 8th 1935 request that the Mayor issue a proclomation requesting that all business houses in the City close between the hours of 2agnd 3 P.M. on April 19th in observance of Good _ Friday. 'Whereupon it was 'moved by Councilman Roach and seconded by Councilman Smith that she-Mayor issue s proclomation for the observance of Good Friday between-the hours of 2 and 3 P.M. which motion upon vote was unanimously carried. Thereupon M. Harmon ~b*ater Clerk reported to Council that Geo. Dirr has suspended payment of his water bills, awaiting Councils action on his request that he be billed For water ox the ba§is~of the 'total consumption of all his meters,, in stead o,f each„place separately and requested that Council take action on the 'matter. Upon Councils discussion and'corisideraton'of'the matter it was agreed and duly moved and carried that Rir. Geo. Dirr's reauest be denied. Thereupon Councilman Skeane called to Councils attention that the bell donated to the City by the Sante Fe. R. R. Co., for installation on.Hempton Height's has as yet not been installed and suggested that this should be done prior,to the holding.. of Easter sunrise-ser'vices'o"n `Hampton Hill. Whereupon it was moved by Counclmah Mills and secondad,`by Councilman Smith,that the Park Commissioner be allowed $10`.00 for material"for the installation of the bill on Hampton hill and the Water Supt, be instructed to do ,the work, erhich motion. upon vote:_was•carried. ? _ Thereupon the Clerk reported to Council that a number of bids on a, Sewer Pump had bean recdived_and proceeded to epen the following b"ids: • Kimball I{rogh Co,'--=-----------=------Horizontal X404.80 _; Lass Starter 26.88 Net €377.92 ___ _ Vertical X388.50 Fairbanks`Morse'CO. ---='---------------Horizontal'~39§.00 American Co. --------------------------Horizontal. $255.00 '-Whereupon"it wa's``agrsed'by Council that'the bids received`be laid over.-.for further conaiderstion•at a ~tiriference'mesting`'of Council to be held the'nezt day. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Mills and seconded.,by Coi3ncilmap_,Roach that. the-head of each City°Dep't be instructed to-take an:inventory of all City ,,property„both real and personal and"submit same to `the City Councilmat earliest convenient, date „which motion<=upon .vote was'unanimonsly carried." .. .Whereupon it was moved, by Councilman Smith and seconded by ,Councilman,Sheane that N. Matich, Mayor Pro-t em be appointed'Mayor 'of the"City to 'succeed Mayor E. C. ~Aickerd, resigned which motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen; Smith, Skeane, Roach, Mills and Matich. Nines: None Absent: -None .. ,, ,.
