Minutes of the previous meeting held on Jan. 13th v+ere then read.,by the,
Clerk and there=being no eorrections`oromisaona,-wsre approved ae-read.
Thereupon the 'Clerk presented to~Gouncil e''communcatiori-`from the Loca1.Opt'ion
League of Calif,~relative to-tfie proposed` cons~itutionsl amendment covering
.liquor control.
Whereupon it was moved byiCouncilman Roach and seconded bg Councilman Sheane that
the-matter be laid over•for further eonsiderationcwhich mbtion-upon vote was carried.
Resolution°293 was`then introduced and read being a resolution of the City...
Counci3 endorsing and approving the application'. of the.Santa Fe Transportation Co.
filed with the-$tate Railraed Commission, requesting authorisation to. operate
passenger points in the State of Calif.
Whereupon it wee moved by Councilman Smith and seconded by Councilman Mills that
Resolution X293 be passed and adopted as read, which motion was carried by the
following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen:. Smith., Sheane, Roach, Mills and Matich.
Noes; None's
Absent:. None. ._.
Thereupon ,the Clerk presented to Council a oommuriication"from Herbert Humphr®ys,
Supervisor Riverside District, xederal'Theatre Prdjects in"wkieh it was requested that
Council give their opinion as to the type of play which-would be of greatest interest
to- the people of this community4
Whereupon it was duly moved and carried that said communication be received and
placed on file.
Thereupon the Mayor and Clerk delegated by Council to attend a regional meeting
of the. Calif. Municipal Utilities Assn: reported that-they-attended said°meeting "'`
which was held `in Los: Angeles on Jan. 14th and was ca7lad for the purpose of consider-
ing the-proposalsof the State o take over-and-operate all-municipal and private
utilities.
They reported that approximately forty city officials and municipal utility
executives were present at said meeting and .that the subject was thoroughly di~-
cusaed and at the conclusion of-the discussion; s resolution was unanimously
passed in which the members of this regional section of she Association went on
record as being opposed to the 3tete of California taking over or attempting to take
over or operating any water-or power utility. now owned by any municpality.or other
public corporation, said resolution wee presented o the Senate Interim Committee at
their meeting on the following day.

` Thereupon Councilman Sheane called to Councils attention that the Temeacal 1later .

they are only entitled to. the first 2000 acre feet, it:waa suggested.that.a
request be mede,fgr a statement as"to .the, quantity ,of water they have already
received:
~Phereupon it: was moved by, Councilman Mills, and seconded by Councilman Sheane
that a letter be"forwarded to the Temescal L~ater~Co, requesting that they, furnish
Council with a statement of the amount of water they have run through their
pipe line since Oct. 1, 1935+ also the quantity now stored back of their dam,
which motion upon vote was unanimously carried.
Thereupon 'the Mayor and Councilman Mills reported that they ;have, interviewed
Mr. Conrad in the District Offics of the Division of Highways at San Bernardino,'
relative to the ~ cent gsa tax money to be, used for-the improvemant.of.major
atr"sets, ether than,$tete Highways end, that they were informed, that approximately
$50.00' would be available by July lst~ for thin work,- however that it'aedrll, be
required that Council set up s proposed project which will have-to be approved
by,the State., and.. that gopiea of necessary proceedings would be furnished; tog
Council at an early date,.
.,Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Smith and seconded by Councilman.t$ills
that'Mr. Flack be authorized to place a.manhole on-the.new,aewer line at Davis
St. and Graham Ave.".which mgtion was earried•by the: following vote:
Ayes: Councilman: Smith, 3heane, Roach, Mills and ~iatich.

Absent: None.
Bills as audited by the auditing committee were then presented to Council and
on call vote warried were ordered paid and the Clerk was instructed to issue">
warrants in payment. of same.
Thereupon there being no further-business-. to come before Council, on motion
duly made and carried Council adjourned to„meet in ::regular; session on Monday,
