The meeting was called to order at the hour af,9:30 P.M. with Mayor N Matich in: the Chair.`'- eouncilmexi: P. H. Smith,' 0. Bo-"Sheens,-F. A. Poach, J1 E. M111's and N.' Matiah-.answered-the roll call. •= `-` Absent: None. , Minutes of the previous meeting held on Dec. 23rd were-'then read by the Clerk and there beng'no corrections'or omiasiona`ivere approved ea read. Thereupon the Treasurer's monthly:report was presented to Council and on motion=duly made and carried-eras accepted and°ardered placed`.on file. "~ Thereupon the'Clerk presented to.Council a communication from E. C. Collatz local chairman-of the-:Imperial Highway Association meeting to be held in Elsinore on Saturdaq, January 25th in Which he-solicited Council for a'donation to help defraq the expenses of said meeting 1lheraupon it was moved by Councilman Smith and seconded by Councilman Sheane that it'be authorized to contribute the same amount as was. donated last year .to help defray'-the-expenses-of the Imperial Hghway'Associetion meeting,'whch motion upon vote was unanimously carried. "` Thereupon a eommunicatien from the League of Calif. Munoipalitiea was read in which a bill. covering the annual membership dues was. enclosed and on motion duly made.and-carried seed communication-was-received and ordered placed on`file. Thereupon_a communication from the Calif.. Municipal Utilities Resn, wee-read in which they urged Council to sand representatives,to attend a meeting to.be.held on Jan> 14th at-.the Biltmore Hotel in -Los Angeles, for the purpose ofconsidering. action to be taken on the Resolution-passed by"the Calif. Seriete appointing an Interim,`Commttee to investigate the feeaibility of the State taking over: ell or part 3-f the water, ga`s and electric utlitieac(both public`and'private}. Upon Council's due consideration of said matter; it was moved by Councilman Skeane and seconded by.Couneirman Smith that the .Mayor and Clerk be delegated to attend said Municipal Utilities meeting..and-that-their expenses be paid by"the City which-motion was carrigd'by the following vote; llyes: Councilmen: Smith, Sheens, Roach, Mills and Matich, Noes: None. Absent: None. Thereupon`the Clerk presented to-Council"a communication from the State ` Division of .Highways 3n whieh:.3t was requested that a'representation of 'the City Council come to the office of the Division: of. Highways at San Bernardino for the purpose of considering'proposed projects upon.~ehich the ~ cent gas tax allottment is to be',expended, _ „: Ahereupon it was agreed by Council-that the matter 'be referred to the Street Commissioner.for his attention. Whereupon-the Clerk read a proposed He solution prepared-by the;Gity Attorney,, providing that the Temeaeal Water Co. be .granted the right, permission andlicense to conatruet;and:maintain a-certain pipe line along-certain stroete,in the.£ity of Elsinore. Whereupon it was moved.by.Councilman Roach and eeonded by Councilman. Smith that the proposed Resolution just read b~ referred to the Council-as.a committee of the whole, for studq;and-that ths,Temescal=Water,-Co. be requested to ,furnish the City Cotincil with a concplete est of plans and:.apecifcationa,.covering..the pro- posed work, which .motion upon vote..was-.unanimously,earried. Thsreuporiit msamoved-by Councilman Mills and, seoondedby~Couxiailman Smith-.~,. that Melvin Harmon be appointed to:act as City 3tr`sht Snperintsndant which motion upon vote. was. unanimously carried.. -; Thereupon Resolution 292 was introdue.ed-and read being a Resolution of Intention, providing for the vacation of a portion of Heald Ave. between Silver and Mohr Sts. Whereupon it was. moved-by Councilman Mills and seconded by,Couttci].man-Roach 'that Reaolati.on #292 b.e passed and adopted as corrected and read, which motion was carried bg the-following vote: Ryes: Councilmen:._Smith, Sheane., Roach, Mills and Matich. Noes. :None. Absent.:. None. thereupon it was:-moved_by Councilman Mills and seconded,by Councilman Roach , that the required Notice of Public Work be published in the :Elsinore Leader.Preae for .four successive weeks and.ahat the St. Supt. have the necessary cards for posting printed, which motion was carried by,the following. vote: Ryes: Councilmen: Smith, Sheane, Roach,,Mills,and Matich. ; .Noes: None. Absent: None. Thereupon the clerk presented to Council the applications of J. C. Neblett, Mary L. f?eraey and Gladys Clark, for appointment to serve on the election.boerd for the coming Gity Election. Whereupon it was-moved by Councilman M311s and seconded by Councilman Smith that said_spplicatons be received and placed on file for .future. consideration, . which .motion .upon vote was carried, _. -Bills ae audited,:by the auditing committee were then presented;to.Council and on motion duly made and on call vote carried were ordered paid and the Clerk was -_. instructed to issue warrants in payment oS same.
