A regular meeting of the City Council. of the ¢ity of Elsinore v; as held on
the above date.
The meeting was called to arder at the hour of x:30 P.l'.?, with Ptiayor ?vIatich
in the chair.

Thereupon the Treasurer's monthly report eras presented to Council and on
.motion duly. made and carried was accepted and ordered placed on file.
V"hereupon the annual. Franchise Tax report of the California '']later and Tele-
phone Company was presented to Gouncil with their check for X114,88 to cover full pay-
ment of Franchise Tax due,based on two per cent of v~5744,11 gross receipts fmr year
1936 in the Gity of 171sin~re,
Upon motion duly made and carried it was ordered that ckieck received be de-
posited to credit of General Fund and report as submitted be~accepted and ordered plac+
on file,
Thereupon a communication from: the.Ameri~an Legion was presented to ^ouncil
giving notice that the Legion is agtiin sponsoring a Community D~iemorial Program,and in-
viting Council to participate vrith them in planning and arranging the program for ~"e-
morial Day „
The chair reported th at he and Councilman Smith attended a meeting called
by the Officers of the American Legion for the purpose of discussing plans and appoint
ing committees on arrangements and that committees have :been appointed and a. date set
for a subsequent meeting to be held to receive reports of the, committees as to ar-
rangements made for the memorial^ay program.

t~iayor from Sol B1odm,Director General of the United States Constitution Sesquicenten-
ial Commission requesting that the,l';Ynyor appoint a local committee to w;crk in conjunc-
tion with this Commission in the observance of 150th anniv rU~ry~of the formation of

e Constitution of the United States.
The Ghair reported .that as requested,he has appointed a-l:,cal committee
and that the names of persons appointed to serve on this committee have been forwarded
o t:Sr,Boone,
Thereupon a petition vans presented to'Council sagned by a number of
Citizens ~,nd local business men,cornplaining that the highTM,!ay,in,Cottonerood Canyon is
closed,b=:ing covered b,T,r~~~ater backed up in Salt Creek. and requested that Council take
the matter up c,-ith the proper :authorities and request that this condition be corrected.

ret that the petition ~r;ith a letter regarding the matter be forwarded to the County
.Board of Supervisors,.rhich motion upon vote vuas carried.,
