be taken to` fill the existing vacancy on the City Gounci"1, which motion.:upon vote

that C. A. Lovejoy be appointed City Councilman to fill the existing vacancy which
motion was...carriedby the following"vote:,,.,

Thereupon the acting Clerk administered the oath of office to C. A. Lovejoy the
newly appointed Councilman, who then took his Chair,
The minutes of the last regular meeting held on August 25th were"then read by<'
the Clerk and there being no corrections or omissions were approued.as mead-.
Thereupon the Clerk presented"to Council a communication from City Atty-Best,
with reference to the claim of Lars. Bagley.. against the .City of, El-sinore,.and>in which
he advised that he has co::,e to the. conclusion that. inasmuch as the ,Street. on whi-ch
she was injured was~a~part--o4 the .State Highway"system, and the,maintenance"and. control
of that Street was vested by law in the State Highway Department that the City is
not liable for her damages, and recommended that"the Council ,reject the, claim.
8~tiereupon it was moved by Councilman Mills and seconded by~Councilmrn pdacy that
the Claim of Pdrs. Bagley be rejected, which motion u:as carried by the follon:~ing vote:

Thereupon it was duly moved and. carried that the Clerk pro-tem be instructed
to answer the letter of B. H. Arnold, certified Public Accountant and inform him
that contract for an .audit, of-the Gity'e books and records has already been awarded.
The T'reasurer's monthly report"was then presented to°CounoiTaiad'dn'mot`ion
duly made and carried was accepted and ordered placed on file.

Whereupon it v+as duly moved and carried that the report of the Water. Clerk
be accepted and ordered filed.
Bills in the amount of X1,524.42 were then presented to Council and on
motion duly made and on call vote carried were ordered paid and the Clerk was
instructed to issue I",'arrants in payq~ent of same..
Thereupon there being na further business to come before Council on met ion
duly made and carried Council adjourned to meet in regular session on ~Ronday
Sept. 26th at the hour of '/:j0 P.M, in the City Hall, the usual meeting place.
