The meeting was called to order at the hour of. 7;,30-P.P~?, with Pd~yor Pdatich in the. Chair. ' ,: "' .: r: Councilmen Roy Pdacy, Henry Perret, J. E. ?gills and N: P¢atich ansviered the roll call. 9bsent: Councilman P.9. Harmon. . Thereupon it was agreed by Council that this matter be referred to 'the Street Commissioner with authority to act on same, Thereupon communications received frern'the`t~l;C.T'.U. and Gra~mnar School P.T..A. organizations were'pre'sehted to Councl;'in vrhisch complaint was made that obcene literature is being sold at the news stands in the City and request vas... made ;that Council tak"e action to prohibit this pra.etice. -` whereupon: it was moved by-Councilman P?ills and seconded by Councilman Macy that the Piayor appoint a committee to make an investigation of this matter and submit a report on seine to Council at the next regular meeting, vrhich motion upon vote was carried. The Chair. appointed: Councilman Perret and himself to serve on this committee. Thereupon the'C1erk presented to Council a communication'frdm Jack Green a local Real Estate Broker, who on behalf of one of his clients requested that a certain alley adjoining his clients property located in the Country Club Heights district be opened to travel, stating that at present shrubbery planted in the alley prevented the use of same and that his client was planning to improve her property and therefore desired that said alley be opened to use. 4s'hereupon it was agreed by Council that this matter be referred to the Street Commissonsr for attention, Thereupon a representative of the Pacific Indemnity Co. appeared before Council and explained the featured of s nevr Liability Insurance Policy his Co. was crriting to cover cities and explained that said policy provides full protec- tion against liability claims in all of the City's operations. ~"Jhereupon it was agreed by Council that the Pacific Indemnity Co. submit a copy of this policy to the Council for study and consideration. Thereupon ?r?rs. Beach on behalf of the Beautification Society appeared before the Council and reported that many of the lots in the City were covered .=:ith a heavy growth of weeds and suggested that some action be taken to provide means for the enforcement of property ovaners to clean said lots and it was agreed by Council that this matter be taken under con^,ideration. whereupon C. P.. Yarborough appeared before Council requesting that he :be granted permission to plats a. temporary refreshment stand on the City's l:akeshore belch,property near_LovJe11-5t. ., ., ,. R'hereupon it was moved by Councilman Mills and seconded by Councilman Macy that the reouest of A1r. Ya.rbarough Ue denied,v~hich motion upon :vote was;caraied.
