Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council a communication from Paul Kuenzli, _~
Adjutant Lynn. Mort Post 200 American:Legion,-advising that.as-in past years the!'
American Legion-is>spoasoring a Community,Memarial :day service on May 30th and ,
requested Councils co-operation by having a representative at a meeting to be held `:,
at the Legion Hall on Thursday, May 5th;at S P.Pd. fox;the purpose of planning the
program and appointing committees. ,

Thereupon the Clerk presented to council a letter received from-Gity-Atty Best
advising that the hearing on.the application of the temescal':V'later Co, for appropras:
tion of water from the San Jacinto River has been abandoned.

Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council a letter received from Joe Seita, President
of the Elsinore,Chamber of,Commerce requesting on behalf of ;the Chamber tflat Cbuncil
authorize that..the new;boat,raee course be,named '!The;;Elsinore Runcipal Race-Course"

~9heraupon it was moved by Councilman Pdills and seconded by Councilman Harmon that(
in accordance with the request of.the,r^,lsinore'Chamber"of:Commerce,:t be: authorized that
the new race-,course be;;named:and known as the !!Elsinore Muncipal::Raee Course'!, which
motion upon vote was unanimously•carred.
Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council a commnunication received from Idrs. Lillie':
?Webster in which she wrote at length with reference to the problem of providing a
suitable location for the colored population of Elsinore. ~~

4'lhereupon it was moved. by Councilman ?dills and seconded by Councilman Perret that ~
said communication be referred to the City Attorney for advice as to Council authority
in the matter, which motion upon vote was carried.
Thereupon the Clerk reported to Council that he has received from the City Atty
an amended agreement m~ith the Broern Crummer Co, which provides for an extension of
time to May 12th, 1938 for Gouneil to purchase the outstanding delinquent 1915 Act
Fonds for the sum of x'17,000.00 and submitted same to Council for consideration.

the City Council of the City of Elsinore, Calif,_fixing the salaries of certain
apposntve officer's of''the Cit~'of El'shore.'

~ Upon a disanssion..of-.said motion certain changes in the-resolutop were
suggested and-agreed on.
Thereupon Councilman Pdills withdrew his motion and Gouncilrnan Perret his
second and the motion was withdra~am,
Whereupon Resolution ~ 321 was read as corrected, and it was then moved by
Councilman ldills and seconded by Councilman Perret that Resolution #;321 be
passed and adopted as read, cahich motion coos carried by the following vote:

Thereupon it urea moved by Councilman.FRlls and., seconded by Councilman Harmon
that Jim Cox be appointed Chief of Police and Fire Chief and that A. G: Barber be
appointed Assistants Chief of Police and City Hall Janitor and that.each work one-
half month days and one-half month nights, which motion was carried by the follow-
ing vote:

Thereupon DRrs Anna 1~R. Horton on beha~i' of~the Elsinore Business ~ Profassional
women's Club sppeared,.,before Council:and tendered. the Club's offer-to install ;a
childrens sawing in the CitY,Park„ :;..
Upon Councils consideratiop of said offer it was agreed that„the PIIayor confer
with the City Atty. regarding the liability'of the Gity in maintaining such a swing ;
before taking;. action on the matter.., ,..,,, , -. .
Thereupon Bills`in the amount of X691,55 as audited by the auditing committee
were presented to Council ,and on motion duly made and on call vote carried were
ordered paid., and the .Clerk was instructed to,issue,.GVarrants,;in,payment of.same.
