A'regular meet"ing°of the-City Council of-the City of Elsinore was held"on the obove date. `= "' - The meeting was called to order at the hoar of 7130 P.P.C. with PRayor Matich in the chair. Councilmen F. H. fimith Roy Pdacy, Henry Perret, S. E. -PF.ills and N. PCatich answered the roll call.` _' Absent: None, ~dinutes of the last meeting held on Jan. 10th were then read by the Clerk and there being_no corrections'or omissions were approved as read, Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council an invitation `from FCayor C. T' Johnson of San Bernardino, to attend the dedication by the Grand Officers of the Pdative`Sone"of the'Golden West of the'San Berriardino'Cty Ha13 on Saturday February 5th, 1938 at 2 o'clock P.Pd. ~ ' Pdayor Pdatich and Councilman PCills expressed their intention•to`attend'eaid dedicati'ori and requested that their reservation cards be for:varded to'`the Chair- man of the Dedcatibn`Cornmittee ' Thereupon tha Clerk presented to Council a cov¢nunicatoa from the Lions Club with reference to'the Community'Christinas tree which they sponsored'ahd advising that due to the increased expense this year'f`or additional''lights and'wi.rng for the Christmas tees, they were requesting a donation of 25.00 from Council to help cover this added expense. ~`' ~ - Whereupon. it was moved by Councilman PJil~s-:;and s'sconded:':by Couriblmancp?acyr:i thst<;the C7.erk be instructed to write to the Lions Club and inform them that the City cannot legally make donations but if an itemized bill is submitted that Gouneil will consider payment`of same grhich motion upon vote c~as carried. "' Thereupon the Clerk presented ~Eo Council`s communication from City Atty. Best Re-City d'f Elsinbis'VS Temescal taster Co advising that in response to a motion made by the defendant to set"aside and change'`the deoision of'the Court in the case recently tried, that he and Attorney Pdc Farland appeared in Court for one day to argue on`these matters;'-with the result"that the Judge 'ordered eertain minor changes made and agreed to immediately sign the Findings and Judgement. - Flhereupon it was duly moved and carried that acid communication be received and ordered filed, - ~' -` Thereupon the C1erIc presented to Council a'notice'reoeivei3 from Edward''Hyatt, State Eigi.neer"advising that the- hearing 'on tfis applications'of the Temescal Water Co, and F. C. Bongs to appropriate water from the San"Jacinto River has been ,postponed frpm Jan. 25th to February 23rd at 10 o'clock A.Pd< City Hall, Riverside, Whereupon it was duly'mod'ed and'carried'that said notice'be received and filed. ~ - The Clerk then reported to`Council'the receipt of County Pdarrant,'i.n the amount of X874639 in settlement of"first installment-taxes 'collected''and ' submitted a detailed statement'covering'same;'which on motion-duly made and" P:IPIUETE P.ECORD CY' THs^^, REGULAR P,+~ETING OF THI: CITY COUNCIL HELD ON TH~'24th DAY OP JANUARY. 1938 ,,_ ,.~ ,_.. carried was accepted and ordered filed, - <-= Thereupon Resolution # 314 was introduced and read, being a Resolution of the City. Council of,.the City of Elsinore,-.fixing-the Salaries of_certain appointive officers of `the City of Elsinore. , Plhereupon it was moved by,Councilman Pdills and se.conded,.by.Councilman Perret that Resolution # 314 be passed and adopted es read, which motion Etas carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilman Smith, Perret, P~Jills and L^.atich.' . Noes: Councilman Ldacy. ,- Absent: None. Thereupon it eras moved by„Councilman riills,and.,seoonded by Councilman,,,; Perret that Jim Cox be appointed to the offices of Fire Cheif`; Asst Police and, City Hall. Janitor,:. -. ,, ;. , .;,.; That C. .L. Callison be appointed to the-,offices of (Hater Clerk, City-,; Judge and Bldg Inspector. That Ernest Johnson be appointed to~the offices of water Supt. and ::Street-Supt. , _. , .. - ;. . That !A. G...Barber be. appointed to the office.of Cheif of Police. - That Geo. Heckman be appointed to the office of:.City Garbage Collector., That Dr. H. Baer-be appointed to;-,the office,of City. Health Officer and ..,that Eugene Best be appointed t,o the .off ice o.rCity thttorney., which motion,., " Xmas carried by the following vote: 1 Ayes: Councilmen Smith, LPacy, Perret,`Idills and Pdatich. Ab ent; None• .. ,r ,whereupon~it was moved by~Councilman Smith and seconded~~by Councilman.., P4ac~ that Street Commisaioner.Pdills be authorized to .proceed ,with-the - installation of a new street lighting system on the Fdst side of L'.ain St. and '. that the Clerk be instructed to publ,rsh,a notce.inviting bids on said work and that,said;bids be-,opened at the next regular meeting of.Council;_which.: ,motion was carried by .the fallowing vote.,, ,,. Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council a communication from E„ C Collatz, Committeeman of the Imperial Highway Assn., advising that the next meetn of this Association,is to be. held in:;Ivlsinore,at Ihhe;.Amsbury,Hotel g on Saturday Jan. 29th.. and requested that Council authprize a;, contribution o help defray the local, expenses of this meeting., „ .. , _ -rr 'Thereupon it was agreed by Council that Pdr. Collatz be notified to submit. an itemized statement of expenses and that Council will consider the payment of same. ,There.upon Bills in,the amount of ,.y711.0§,.,as audited by;the Auditing committee were prasented.to Council. and on-motion duly made; and on call. vote carried were ordered,paid-and_the~Clerk was, instructed,to issue TAarr,ants in„ ., ..
