HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-18-1939 Sfkpitmrf City Council MinutesMINUTE RECORD OF REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE-CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON THE 18th DAY OF SEPTEMBER 19 39 A regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Elsinore was held on the above date. The meeting was called to order at the hour of 7 :30 P.M. with Mayor Matich in the chair. Councilmen: C. A. Lovejoy, Roy Macy, Henry Pe ret, and J. E. Mills and N. Matich answered the roll call. Absent: ?done. '?hereupon the chair ordered that the reading of the minutes of the last meeting be dispensed with. Council then took up for consideration and study proposed specifications for the City of Elsinore Base Ball Park and upon due consideration of sbid matter it was moved by Councilman Macy and seconded by Councilman Mills that the spec- ifications for the Elsinore Base Ball Park be approved and adopted as read, which motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen: Lovejoy, Macy, Perret, Mills and btatich. Noes: None Absent: None Thereupon Resolution 1 337 was introduced and read being a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elsinore determining and ascertaining that the general prevailing rate of wages per diem in the locality of Elsinore for the following crafts and types of jilorkmen is as follows: Common Laborer Truck Driver Mechanic Machine Operator Other Labor 4 Per Diem 5.44 8. 8. 4. And that the general prevailing rate for legal holidays, Sunday and over- time work in the locality is one and a half times the above rates. Whereupon it . *.as moved by Councilman Mills and seconded by Councilman Macy that Resolution // 337 be passed and adopted as read, which motion was carried by the follouciog vote: Ayes: Councilmen: Lovejoy, Macy, Perret, Mills and Matich. Noes: None Absent: None Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Mills and seconded by Councilman Macy that the City Clerk be directed to publish a notice inviting bids for grad- ing and excavating the proposed City Base Ball Park and that the time for open- ing bids received be fixed for Monday, October 9, 1939 at the hour of 7:30 P.M. which motion was carried by the following vote: (ayes: Councilmen: Lovejoy, fluty, Perret, Mills and Matich. Noes: None Absent: None Thereupon there being no further business to come before Council on motion duly made and carried Council adjourned to meet in regular session on Monday September 25th at the hour of $:30 P.M. in the City Hall the ystlrnee inplacE REGULARIMEE;TING CF THE CITY COUNCIL September 25,-1939 'Thereupon it was moved by,Councilman Mills and seconded by Councilman- Perret, that the City,Cl -rk be instructed to notify E. 0. Sullivan, District Engineer of the State Division of Highways that the 'work of oiling the streets approved for inclusion in the system of streets of ;major importance has been completed and request that gas tax fund held by the Stele and allated for this eiork "be remitted to the City <`6s soon as ,possible which motion upon roll was carried Thereupon it was reported to Council thaththe lau fixing speed limits has amended and nos provides for a r' a speed- 1imit of 25 miles per-hour in business districts instead 'of. 20 miles per hour and that this change will necessitate the installation of new speed limit signs in the City toz conform ^1,Ath the new law. Whereupon it was moved by Councihm%-, Perret and' seconded by Councilman Macy that this matter be referred to Councilman Mills, Street Commissioner for investigation' and 'that he authorized to place an order for whatever speed limit signs are required, which motion upon, ..vote - was :car'ried. Bills 'in `'the ' amount of $2244.14 as, audited by the euditing committee. were then presented to Council and on notion duly made and on call vote carried were ordered paid and the Clerk was- instructed to issue warrants in payment of same. Therefore there being no further business to come before Council on motion duly made and carried Council adjourned to meet in regular session on Monday, October 9th, at the hour of 7:30 P.M, in the City Hall the usual meeting place.
