A regular meeting of the City Council of :the City of .Elsinore we.s held 0 n
the above date. ""The meeting was called to order, at this hour
Of 7:30 P.:S. "with,
Mayor Matich in 'the chair.
Councilman: C. A. Lovejoy, Roy Macy, Henry Perret, J. E. �,iille, and N.
Matich answered the roll call. Absent: None.
of the the last regular meeting held on August 28th were then read,b
the @leek 'and'there being no corrections or omissions were approved as; read.
TYiereupon''the VTater and 'License Clerk's monthly report for the month of
August was presented to, Council submitting statement .of collections to be as
follows:
Water Collections 11.337.53
License Collections X762
Total Collections fj1415.15
Whereupon it was 'duly moved and carried that said report be accepted and
ordered placed on file.
Thereupon `'the City Treasurer and City Clerk's monthly reports were presented;
to Council and on motion duly made and carries ,vere accepted and ordered placed
on file.
The .Clerk then presented to Council a letter from Francis H. Gentry, Mayor
of Long Beach advising that the City of Long Beach desires to be host to the
California League of Municipalities in, convention assembled in 1940 and that; heir
official' invitation will, be pre. seats d,at,the forthcoming convention in the City
-of Oakland and "respectfully requested that Elsinoresupport and, give, fgvorable
consideration to their invitation.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Macy and seconded by Councilman
..Lovejoy that the Clerk be instructed to forward a letter to Mayor Deirerse of
`Banning, President of the Citrus Bblt Division of the League, and inform him
that the City Council of Elsinore favor the City of Long Beach being the host
City for the 1940 League Convention and urge that he give favorable support to
their invitation and that a copy of said letter be forwarded to the Mayor of
Long Reach vihich motion upon vote was carried.
Thereupon the Clerk presented to-Council for their consideration the re-
nev,al policy submitted by W. W. H. Beach, Agent covering Public Liability and
Property Damage insurance on non - ownership cars.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Macy and seconded by Councilman
Ferret that said policy be accepted as written, which motion upon vote was
carried.

Thereupon the Clerk
p presented to Council reports submitted by the State
Division of Highways covering the July 1939 quarterly payment of the one -
quarter cent gas tax allocated for expenditure upon Streets of Major Importance
in Cities and the annual report of expenditures made by the Department during
the fiscal year ending Ju4e 30, 1939 for general maintenance of State Highways
77 and 78 within the City of Elsinore.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Mills and seconder} by Councilman

Macy that said reports be accepted and ordered placed on file which motion upon vote was carried,
Thereupon Ordinance # 237 was presented to Council on second reading -being an-Ordinance of
the- Gity'of Elsinore amending Section 1 of Ordinance No, ° of'the"City'of`Elsinore.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman. Ferret and seconded by Councilman Macy,-that Ordinance
# 237`' -'15e passed and adopted as read, which'raation was carried by the _foliowing „vote-
Ayes: Councilmen: Lovejoy, Macy, Perret, Mills and Wet ich
Noes: None
Absent:' None . .
Thereupon Council took up for consideration the matter of purchasing Fire Hose and upon due
ra
considetion -of said mat-Liar e
it wa`m,oved by'Councilman Perret and _seconded,_by;Councilman Lovejoy
that Councilman Macy Police and Fire Commissioner be authorized to place a purchase order for
fire hose in such quantity as he deems is required „which motion_was.carriod by the following vote:
Ayes: Council m an r Lovejoy, Macy, Perret,' Mills and Matich.
Noes: None
Absent: Noike
Thereupon it was reported to'Council that the Elsinore WPA sewing unit recently closed had
again opehed up at the former location furnished by the City.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Perret and seconded by Councilman` Lovejoy that it be
authorized to re -rent the room occupied by the sewing unit at,a monthly rental of $'15 vjhich motion
upon vote"wa'e- unanimously carried.
Bills in the amount of 01198.35 as audited by the auditing committee were then presented to
Council and on motion duly made and on call vote ,carried vwe,re „ordered paid and the Clerk was in-
structed to. issue warrants in payment of same.
Thereupon there being no= further business to come befy're Council on motion duly made and
carried Council adjourned to meet in'regular' adjourned session on Monday, September 18th at the
hour of 7:30 P',M. in. the City` Hall the usual meeting place. CJ7
