REGULAR Pf ±,'ETING OF THE CITY COUl\TCIL September '28th, '1942 Project;No. 5 (A) of the memorandum of agreement for expenditure of one- quarter Cent gasoline tax funds for Streets of I;ajor Importance. ;hereupon it was duly moved and carried that .said .report be received and ordered placed on, file. .thereupon the.,~vr;itteh res.,gnation of Chief of Police, James Cox was presented"to Co:uncil,-requesting that same be accepted: as effective October lst, 1942• e'dhereupon it was moved by Councilman Peterson and seconded by Councilman ~r_'ills,that .the res,ignation.of the. Chief-of Police, James Gox be tabled for a period of .two w~teeks and that, he be, granted a leave of absence: for''said period v~rithout pay, ~+rhicYi notion upon cote was. carried., ~ Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council report submitted"by the Temescal 4`dater„Company showing a daily statement of their water withdrawals during the month of August, 194.2 from;, theirRailroad~Canyon Reservoir, ' T`.rnereupon it was auly moved and carried that said report"bey received and. ordered placed on file. 4 Thereupon"a communication from the Grammar Sehool,P•T.A..was ~ presented to'Couneil iri which they called attention to the abundant .growth of puncture-vine.. on City Stree~s.and.re,quested of_Council that steps be"taken to eradicate same. u'lhereuporr a copy of letter addressed to the Grammar School P.T:A. by li.ayor I~e_tich Vras presented to "Council, iii ~°ahch he advised-the P. T. A. members that Council have already given this matter their attention and have. ordered the .Street:Superintendant to. proceed with the work of destroying puncture vine on City Streets.. Thereupon a letter fror2 J. '~gelund, Proprietor. of Elsinore, Hot Springs was presented to Council in which he reported to Council, that as per his usual custom, so that the citizens of ~lsiriore znay enjoy the radio broadcasts of the world .series,_baseball games, he,vould agree to discontinue the"use of"any electrical apparatus that would interfere .^rith radio . reception during said broadcasts. ,Vhereupon it eras duly moved. and carried ,that said communication be received and filed. i Thereupon Councilman Lovejoy reported to Council that h-e h4s been j informed by the secretary of the 1lsinore Chamber of'ComYderce that the Chamber has_,ordered and received. 1000 1'lsinore Gity advertising folders, and was soliciting a donation"from he ,City Council to_help ~efrav,.ths cost of same. ';Jhereupori it was moved by Councilman Lovejoy and seeoiided by Councilman Peterson that th'e matter be takeri under consideration to the next regular meeting of Council, which motion upon vote vras carried. Thereupon Council took up f'or consideration the matter of filing ', with the local tire rationing Board an application for permit to place an order for four tires ,and ...three tubes for the City .Fire Lngne. iVh'ereupon it i~aas moved .by Couneilydan 117i11s and seconded by 'Councilman Perret that 'the 'City Clerk be 'directed to execute `and file with the fire rationing MIlYUTE REC014D OF REGULAR Ta~~ETING OF TT?E CITY COUI~7CIL MEETIlYG HELD OH THE 2gth DAY OF September 19/,x,2 board the required application for permit to place an order for said needed tires and tubes and that he attach to said application a certificate relative to the age and condition of the present tires not installed on the Fire Engine which motion upon vote tivas carried. ^thereupon th.e chair called to Councils attention that the ?ational Drive for scrap-metal was on and reported that many of the local citizens have scrap metals about their places vvhich they vaould gladly collect and donate to the drive if some-one would pick it up and haul it to the scrap dump. ;Thereupon it was iroved by Councilman Lovejoy and seconded by Councilman Peterson that Councilman n;~ills, Street Comrissioner, be authorized to arrange the time for the use of the City mruck to collect and deliver scrap metals to the location designated as the local scrap dump, which motion upon vote was carried. Bi11s in the amount of 71,b'~ta..21 as audited by the auditing committee were then presented to Council and on motion duly made and carried were ordered paid and the Clerk vacs instructed to~issue v.*arrants in pa,Tment of -same. Thereupon there bei:g no further business to come before Council, on motion duly made and carried Council adjourned to meet in regular session on Tuesday October 13th a.t the hour of 7:30 P.~?. in the City ~?a.ll the usual meeting place. q Y L^laYOR
