MEETING HELD ON THE 22nd
DAY OF November rs43
A regular meeting of'tne City Council of the City of Elsinore
was held on the above date. The meeting was called to order at the
hour of 7:30 P.l~~i. vaith PrTayor T,latich in the chair. ,
Councilmen: C.A. Lovejoy, Leslie i~`errifield,Henry Ferret and
iT. P,=atich answered the roll call.
Absent: Councilman: J.E. ?Gulls
City Clerk C.J. ?talina being absent appointed Lena Callison
to act as Clerk Pro-tem.
The chair then ordered that the reading of the minutes of the
last regular meeting be dispensed with.
Thereupon a letter from ~.~. Sullivan, )ighvray District
Engineer, addressed, Attention J.E. Prlills, Street Commissioner, was
presented to Council, advising vrith reference to ;is letter of Oct.
26th that information as to the Cityts grader blade requiremients be
forwarded direct to PSr. P~"aury !~~laverick, of the Government Division.
'ar Production Board said information to reach him not later than
Dec.lSth 1943.

Thereupon a7.plication fro, tae So, Calif. Telephone Co, vans
presented to Council reruesting permission to trim trees aouth of
st,-.te hi~;hwav at vari^us locations, approximately 17'] trees.
;~Ibereupon it was moved by Councilman Ferret and seconded by
Councilman Loveio?* t'_at permission be granted to the So. Calif.
Telephone Co. to trim trees as required vaithin the City of Elsinore,
vrhich motion upon vote tivas carried.
Ti~ereupon a letter addressed to the 34;ayor from ~.?V, Soper,
President of the Citrus Belt Division of the League of Calif. Citrus
~nras .presented to Council advising that the meeting scheduled to be held
in ~~edlands Nov.26,1943 will be set forvaard to Jan.2gth,1944.
thereupon it was•du]_,y moved and carried that said letter be re-
ceived and filed.
Thereupon the Cler' presented to Council a copy of a tabulation
submitted by state division of high'.vays showing the apportionment
of the Get.lg43 quarterly payment of the .¢ gas tax allocation, the
City of Elsinore being alloted the sum of X283.'75.
G°lhereupon it ~+ras duly moved and carried that said report be re-
ceived and ordered. filed.
Thereupon a petition addressed to Councilman PtIills, Street Com-
missioner vaas presented to Council in vinich C.B.~arris, Gene Adams,
and J.G. Schembri petition that they as property ovrners be given re-
lief from flood vaaters coming down Lewis ~t, onto their properties.

Upon Councils consideration of the matter it vaas agreed-that said
petition b2 referred to Councilman a'-i11s,St. Commissioner 'or 'ais in-
vestigation.
thereupon a letter from irir. & ,:yrs. Earl J. Goodman vaas presented to
Council in vahica they petition that necessary proceedings be started to
close Dawes St. from Pepper Drive to 6th Ave, in the Pepper Grove Tract,
stating that this street has never been used and that they are willing
and agree to deposit their check to cover the total cost of this pro-
ceeding.
=dhereupon it vaas moved by Councilman Lovejoy and seconded by Council-
man Tverrifield that t_.is uetition be referred to Councilman I+ii1ls,St.
Commissioner for his investigation, which motion upon vote vaas carried.
Under reports of Committee's
Councilman Perret, Park Commissioner reported that out-door stoves
are needed for the city park.
No other reports were submitted.
Thereupon Council took up for consideration the existing• condition
of the sidewalk on ~"Jest Graham Ave. between. Spring and Langstaff. Sts.,
and upon due consideration of said matter.
It was moved by Councilman Perret and seconded by Councilman P~erri-
field' that the City Clerk be instructed to give written r_otice to tine
property ov;ners o^ the north side of ~':. Graham Ave. betvreen Spring and
Langstaff Sts. that their sidewalk's are in bad condition, causing a
dangerous hazard and request that they give i.~m~edi:~te attention to the
repair of` same,otherwise that the?,r will beheld liable for any claims
for injury that may result from this condition, vahich motion upon vote
vvas unanimously carried.
Thereupon it vvas moved by Councilman ]Lovejo,T and seconded by
Councilman Perret that a leave of absence frol7l the Mate be granted to
Councilman 1:-ails, vrho vvas called to the home of his fathar account
serious illness, which motion upon vote was carried.
Thereupon the chair reported to Council that the So.Calif.Gas Co.
has reported to hire. that they have the application of L.L. i,IcLwven for
gas service to a dvelling that he oz~rns on Townsend St. and the only
condition on irhich they can grant thSs service is that NcEvven places
his meter at the end of their line on `~ovvnsend St. and then runs his
private service line from said meter fer the balance of the distance to
his dwelling and compa.nT requires that he secure a ~~ermit from the City
granting him permission to install ''-is meter in the Par'_~way at the end
of the company line and lay his service line along said parkvaay to his..
dwelling and requests that Council grants such a permit.
