'.answered saying they had .sold their broom sqm two -years ago.:., REGULAR P1~BTING OF TH' CITY C.C~UNCIb June 26th,> 1944, The George Her z& Co. reported their broom was working on a fob and would not be available until about the 25th of July. They also reported the-City of Riverside Street:Lept, had a broom that could be rented, Mayor .PaIatich. was given the privilege to look into the Riverside broom- proposition and to contract for same if available. A letter from California Electric,Po~v~,r Co. containing a check for ?f$188,1$ covering Franchise.Tax for the calendar. year ..1943. Motion by ~'ioods, seconded by Merrifield check .be accepted and de- posited to general or proper funds. Also a letter from California Electric Power Co, regarding the in- stallation of transformer at Ball. Park. Motion..by Merrifield, seeor~ded by Moods: that,.agreement .on- transformer be approved and signed. Motion: carried. `. ....:.. Resolution to be drawn up, for an<increaae of ~10,00.,per month for park attendant of.vhich Steve Susa is the present attendant making a; salary of ~105.60:per month. The sub~eet of.'Oiling of Streets, and. Defense Council was finally aired 'by Councilman bterrifield. City Judge made a;ecmplaint about.. making extra call evenings-:.and ` "Sundays to take care persons snared by law. ;The Judge made a personal-.., application for extra gas but was turned down flat. Gasoline being too C ac,arce to make extra tripsc Iri Paet it fakes most,., all or a large portion ~ of my gas to go to and from ~rork. ~_ Motion by Cooper,•seconded;by iVoods.;that Mayor Matich make :personal contact with Ration Board regarding extra gas for Gty Judge. I Communication was read from Chamber of Commerce. Nat McPee, reps~e-' sentative of the Chamber of Commerce was-present to hear action taken on` ~ letters. One letter pertaining.to.City-s donation on advertising it being t brought out that the city cannot make donations, but by investigating such ' .funds and ammount already spent the remain8er can be used by paying bill it of such ammounts if presented inusual,-manner, but no donations_as to City Attorney's advise. Motion by Cooper, seconded `by Goodeass that City Council cooperate with Chamber of Commerce in regard to Advertising Fund.
