A regular meeting of the City Council of the Cit~i of Elsinore was held on the above date. The meeting eras called to order a_t the hour of ~:30 P,D;i. ~,>ith iviayor N`atieh in the' chair. Councilmen: C.A, Lovejoy, Leslie I~ierrifield, Henry Ferret, J,E. Clerkrs monthly repots were presented to Council which on motion '-uly made and carried v^rere accepted and ordere placed on file. V'Ihereupon the clerk presented to council a card received from O.F?. Thereupon the `~uarterly report of the State Diviscom of Highways was presented to Council, submitting a statement covering the Jan.1944_p allocation of ?g~ gas tax for Streets of major importance, shorrring ~lsinor >hare to be :296.66 a'ahereupon it was duly moved and carried that said report be accepted end ordered placed on file. Thereupon the Clerk reported to Co,ncil, the receipt from County auditor Dick's his e.•:ecl.'s in the amo nt rSO,'73 °~and x208.65 covaring she city's,,_share from sales of tax delinc,uent pro~oerty, ~ s REGULAR P:'~'T'BTING GF TBE CITY COUDTCIL February, 14,1944, i`lhereupon it was-roved by Councilman Tvlills and seconded-by Councilman Lo~zejoy thy.-t said check's be accepted and ordered deposited to the credit of the proper funds, vrhich motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon a communication from 13ichard Graves, State Director of Civilian Defense eras presented to Council advising th t the Elsinore Civilian Defense Grganization has been duly certified by the Calif. State ?;1ar Council as an "Accredited Civilian Defence Organizati.on`! in accordance with the provisions of Cp,apter 920 :statutes of 1943 and the rules of the,, ~i';ar Council. ':'hereupon it was duly moved and carried that said communication b'e' received and ordered placed on file. Thereupon a communication from the Douglas Aircraft Co, addressed to iv"ay-or 1iatich, was presented to Council in vrhich they expressed their apprec•-tion and thanks for the courtesy sr~ovrn t:em oy r7r-ariting them sa.e privilege of holding a private dance for their organization on Feb.l3th,~944 °dhereupon it wa.s moved by Councilmen i'~iills and seccnded by Co ncilzrian Perret that said communic~tiorr be received ahd ordered filed, vrhich mction upon vote eras carded. thereupon a communication from D'rank''. iTOwsey, addressed to Uayor 5~~:~..tich was presented to Council in vahich he advised that he has solicited at least a half dozen Insurance Con;panies to cbtain insurance coverage on Geo. Clark's truck but was unsuccessful as none would take the risk under any consideration. !dhereupo.< it was moved by Councilman Mills and seconded by Councilman Iti'Terrifi~ld .that George Clerk be released as City Garbage Collector and Street Cleaner, _effective Feb.15,1944 Vrl=ich motion upon vote was unanimously carried Thereupon it vacs moved by Councilr,:<~n ir_ills and seconded by Councilman Lovejoy t ,a.t it be authorized to purchase two ~1000.OO~t~U.S. ^'ervY~s~t€c Savings Bons .with funds from tl:e ;dater Fund, which motion vacs carried by tine following vote. Ayes: Councilman: Lovejoy,h4errifield,Perret,~aills and P'iatich Noe s: .None Absent: None thereupon it ryas moved b~ Councilman Mills and seconded by Councilman Perret that Atho H. Tappan be appointed to serve in the position of City ~9ater and License Clerk and City Judge, effective as of the 3rd day of Feb. 19':4, vrhich motion upon vote v~ras unanimously carried. Bi11s in the amount of ~2662,g6 as audited bar tre auditing com-nittee were then presented to council and oii:,7otion duly made a.nd carried vrere ordered paid and the clerk eras instructed to issue vrarrants in p~..yment of sar!e. .Thereupon there being no further business to cor!.e before counc:~l on motion duly !rad.e and carriod council adjourned to meet in regular session on P."onday Feb 2~;~at he hour of $x;30 P.Pa. in the City Ha11 tae usual meeting place.
