REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COIINCIL.
MEETING HELD OH THE 23rd

A regular meeting of the City Council of the Gity of ,:Elsinore
was held on the-:above date. with Bdayor:Matieh in the chair.
The meeting was called to order at the:;hour of. 7:30'P. M.
- Councilmen Merrifield, honge, James, Goodcas;e, and,l~dayor
Matieh answered the roll ca11~. Absent none.
Minutes oP the last regular meeting was read ,,; there being no
alterations or corrections-the minutes were-..approved as read.
A,aommucation Prom the Calif Water, and Telephone was read
pertaining to their Franchise;-also containing a cheek For ~ 222.12
covering their Franchise.
Motionrby Merrifield sec by Longs that;eheek be accepted, and
deposited to the General;Fund Motionearried, and so ordered.
A commueation was read Prom the State Compensation ~~f~~ Insurance
-Fund ,was read containing a check for ~ 66.0.5 h a refund cheek For
overpaymeht oP Compensation insurence For 1943.. -
Motion.by M®rrifield sec by Longs ,. cheek be accepted, and also
be deposited to the General Fund. Motion carried, and so ordered.
Still more money. A commueation from R. T. Hicks, Co Auditor
containing 3 cheeks One for ~ 5,856.80

covering Appro. Tax or Deliquent tax sales.
Motion by Goodcase sec by James that cheeks be accepted , and
deposited to various ; and proper Funds.
~ Motion carried, and so ordered.
Goodcase's report.
Report on pumps. 'Water Supt. Ernest Johnaon making the
report. Pumps are installed „and working.
Johnson also reporting three names of persons he would like
to enroll on the Elsinore Volunteer Fire Dept.
Ed Hannen, Jaek Ayres, and Ingvar Johnson. replacing three that
are or have left the roster they are Ghas. Gwinnup, Jaek Calkins,
and Dave Ayres. There was some discussion as to the age limit of
Firemen, and insurance. Clerk, and W. 4Y. H. Beach are to check on
State Compensation Insurance, and also if they are required to,have
State Chauffer's License to operate Fire Trucks.
The question of the Carnival Co that wants to operate through
the summer season, and no City Ordanenee covering only day operatioas
By advice of City Attorney Best reports a clause in City ordanenees
has authority oP their own disereetion to add suppliments to Gity
Ordanenees without addition oP making new Ordanenoes.

Summer recreation programs is .willing to clean off beach Front

Merrifields Report.
Professor MoKinzie of our local Grammar School reports Grammar School Board as a whold ha
has approved a new Grammar School Building to face Lindsay St., instead oP their present
Yrontage frontace'on Langstaff St.-, aad to make a-ground level with a street level both
the'Ground`also the St level: should-be lowered to Qonform with each other.
City Counoil asks-for a-Bdap (' Survey )< so .as' to have'` something to bring before the
City Counoil for discussion.
St.'Commissioner Merrifield reports he"also has some-street repairs one on Spring
st., and the southend 'of Poe St•.
Motion by Goodease sea, by Longe St. Commissioner be given authority to put a
graver base: on the south and of doe-st.-from Lakeshore<Drive south to water edge.

Bills were. presented , examined, and audited by the Auditing oommitee.
Motion by_Merrifield 'see by James that bills be allowed and Clerk be instructed
to draw warrants on same Motion carried and so ordered.
