The. meeting was called to order at the_]~our of 7:30 p.m. ...with IVlayor Matich in the chair. Councilmen Merrifield,.Longe, YVoods, Goodcase, and P1Iayor Matich answered the roll"call. Absent none. ..Minutes of .the regular meeting of Jan.:, 24th. were read,and "there being no alterations or corrections the minutes ~ vaere approved as read. A commutation was read from the Division oP Highways pertaining to the'1/4 et. tax allocation of which Elsinore's portion"is X266.56 -Motion by Merrifield, sec.'by Goodcase commutation be filed Motion carried and-so ordered. ' A commutation in the Porm of an invatation from the CaIiP . Tax"Payers assocation to attend the Nineteenth-Annual Membership meeting on Feb,, 21st. 1945. begining at 10:00 A.Pt, at the Biltmore'Hotel, -Los Angeles,' Motion by Goodcase 'sec by Woods that that commutation also be filed. Motion carried, and so ordered.- -`Commutation from the O P. A. 'was read pertaining to the paying of the°rent of the ~tJar`Price, and Rationing Board Office at their new location: 103 So Main St, r.,~otion by Goodcase sec by Longe that Clerk be instructed to have City Atty. to draw up Resolution covering their new location at 103 So, Main St. Elsinore , and the City Of Elsinore to pay the rent to the ammount of ~ 25.00 per Mo, Motion carried and somordered. A commutation from Councilman woods tendering his resignation from the City Council., As he had purchased a business at Temecula and expected to move there by the 1st, of March. PSotion by Goodcase sec by Merrifield-that resignation -- ~ be_accepted with regrets, motion carried , and so ordered. Motion by Goodcase sec by Pi;errifield that Mr. Vernon James be appointed to fill the #~~~~~~{~,~ unexpired term on the City Council vacated_by the resignation of E. K. woods. Vote on motion. Ayes Merrifield, Longe. Goodcase. Matich. NoTS none absent none. Pfiotion carried and so ordered. Mr. James was sworn in by Mayor Matich who also gave Mr. James quite an aceeptence speech,and explination of his duties, IUrs James countered with a few well chosen words of acceptance, and expressing his thanks, and apprecation of being appointed as a member of the City Council, and would preform his duties to the best of his ability. City License 8c~'~'ater Clerks, City Clerks, and City Treas.. reports were read, and corresponded, notion by Longe sec by Goodcase Reports be acceptedas read motion xarried and so ordered. Motion by Longe sec by James Clerk be instructed to inform the Chief OP Police one of his', duties is to assist the License. Clerk to collect deliquent City licenses. T~lotion carried and so ordered.. The subject of the Amer. `Legion lease on.buildng site for ~ 1.00 per year. Pv7otion by Merrifield sec by°Goodcase Blerk be instructed to contact City Atty. to draw up new lease in favor of the Amer Legion for one year for v 1.00 Motion-carried and sor_ordered. Bills .were read inspected, and audited by the auditing committe. Motion by Merrifield sec by Longe that bills be allowed,. and Clerk be instructed to draw warrants on same. motion carried, and so ordered. The written invatation to the Business People oP the City had its results by a large attendenee there being 4.0 business represenatives present, 'The purpose of the invatation,was to try and Yorm,some means oP raising more money to run the City business as the Gity monthly expenses: are omewhat larger than they mere some time ago The subject was quite thourghly discussed pro, and con ., but no dePinate solut ion was solved .any more than., caving the matter up to the disereation of the City Council. Motion by Matich sec by Goodcase that St. Comm, contact Gity Atty, in regard to the closing of Line St, from Lakeshore Drive ~~_-south to the Lake. ~ltotion .carried and so ordered. ' .
