regards to the moving of the end of tine t~raenty-five mile zone signs,
Letter stating that a survey as to moving said signs ~,vou7_d cost the City
abour ;100.00, vrhich would come rrom the Ci.ty's share of the 4 cent Gas
Tax fund.
Thereupon the Clerk read resolution No. 440, a resolution. requesting
the Division of i;gi!,vays to make a sur?Tey and defray the cost from the
1 cent Gas `Pax fund.
'~nnereupon it tvas r,,oved by Councilman Allen, second by Councilman
Smith, that resolution No. 440 be adopted as read and tyro copies be ma
to the Division of Highways, which motion was carried by the fol_lovaing
vote:

Vumereupon it eras moved by Couneil:n.an Smith, seconded by Councilman
Allen, that iviayor J.A. Tarpley be given perraissi.on to leave 'the State
and be away for six weeks, which motion upon vote was carried.
Councilman Allen, Street CoL~rnissioner, reports that he had had the
garbage collector give tr..e streets an extra sweeping so as to have them
clean for Christmas. 3ut as a whole the present setup on garbage collec-
tion and street sweeping ,vas very unsatisfactory. States that more block
shou7_d be taken in on the street sweeping.
Councilman Smith reports that as meta]_ garba~-e containers could now
be obtained, people should be rewired to get sane to put treir garbage
in and make it eas9_er to handle.
'J~her.aupon it was moved by Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman
Smith, that the Council adopt a resolution extending t'r!eir sympathy to
l,Iayor J.A. Tarpley. in 1-iis bereavement and ~!rr9_tten into the minutes of
this meeting, which motion upon vote eras carried.

Smith, that meeting adjourn to meet main on v;onday January 13th, 1947
at the regular time anal place -which motion upon vote was carried.
