The meeting was called to order at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M. with NIag*or Tarpley in the chair. Councilman: Leslie Tuerrifield,John Al1en,Robert Good~rrin,Nick Matieh and N,'ayor Tames A.Tarpley answer roll call. Thereupon the clerk read the minutes of the October ly.th.meeting and there being no errors ~or ommissions were approved as read. Calender No•3 This being the time and place for the publ-ic hearing on the proposed rezoning of lot 16 in block N of Hampton's-first addition to Elsinore, and lots 3'to 12 both inclusive,in block 3 of Heald's second addition to Elsinore,the City Glerk reported that notice of said hearing had been published in the Elsinore Leader Press on October 21~.th,lgl~6. All those present,in favor of and against the proposed rezoning, were heard by the Council. ??,rhereupon it was moved. r,r ~ou.ncilman Goodwin second by Councilman Niatich that all protests ~:nd_o~ections thereto be overruled and that the public interest required the rezoning of said property as applied for, and that the petition for rezoning be granted which was carried by the following vote. - Councilman NZerrifield yes " " P.llen yes Noes None 94 Goodovin yes " " Matich yes Absent^None P.4ayor Tarpley yes Thereupon the clerk read ordinance No.266,amending ordinance No.236 of the City of Elsinore,a.n ordinance rezoning lotsa 6 in block N of Hampton's first addition to L+'lsinore and lots 3 to 12 both inelusi~ve of Heald's second addition to Hlsinore from zone R3 to zone B1. tiVhereupon it was shoved by Coizncil_man P~4atich second by Councilman Merrifield that ordinance No.266ebe passed to its second reading,which motion was carried by the following vote. Councilman lerrifield yes " " Allen yes Noes none " " Goodwin yes P, 9P ?•";atich rtes Absent none ~, mayor Tarpley yes At this time i~dayor Tarpley calls on Chief of Police A•E.Sil~men to state the facts of his side in regards to the matter of his being asked to resign,he stateing that he had done no wrong intendionly,A number of those present spoke in behalf of Chief Simmen. The Councils side was spoken. on by Mayor Tarpley,Councilman I,.atich,Allen and..Merrifield. City attorney Beat being present stated the authirity of a City Council, Whereupon the clerk read Resolution No.~.38,a resolution declaring office of Chief of Police vacant as of October 31st.1946 WYrerupon it tivas moved by, Councilman. Goodwin second by Councilman Merrifield that resolution No.~.38 be adopted as read,which`was carried by the following vote. Councilman Merrifield reports that he had. attended the meeting of the different organizations of the City planning to decorate the city during Christmas time.They hav;ng aksed the help of.the City fire Dept to string lights ytc. Also stated that the gas had. been turned on in the City Park. Councilr.2an "lien reports that he had- wrote the Livisio~ of iiigh~nrays asking about stinging lights accross State highevay but had as yet received. no answer. .Whereupon it ,vas :coved by Councilman uerrifield second by Councilman P.4atich that Bills be allowed as auduted byauditing cormnittee and clerk be instructed to issue ~:varrents for same which motion upon vote.v,Ta.s carried. ?;hereupon it ~:aa.s movev by Councilman Goodv~~in second by Councilman liatich that meeting be adjourned to meet again en 'Tlednesday night October 30th,1G46 as an adjourned meeting at the regular time and solace,
