Mayor Tarpley in the Chair C©uncilmen:- Zeslie MerriPield,John Alles,Robert,Goodwin,Nick,Matich and Mayor Tarpley answer roll call. Thereupon the clerk read the minutes of the August 26th.meeting ahd there being no errors or ommissions were approved as read Chief of Police A.E.Simmen being pr®sent was called on by the Mayor to state his problem. Chief Simmers stated that the fail beds,blankets and other equipment was in bad shape and should be renewed,also-the police dept needed a-.fileing cabinet to file.reeords that had to be kept Another matter being an up to date City .traffic ®rdinanee and Buggested that the City oP Elsinore could copy from the City of Riverside traffic ordinance of which he. had a copy. This was turned ®ver t® Councilmen Merrifield and Allen to 1ookover, 4'~lhereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield second by Councilman Goodwin.-that Police Commissioner Matich-and ,the Police Dept .be-authorizes to puchase-seven beds complet®-for the ~ail,also to paint fail as needed and purchase a fileing cabinet for there records.?ahich motion open vote was carried. Thereupon this being the time to open sealed bids for the drilling of a well for the City of Elsinore as advertized,the clerk read the bid oP U.S.Murphy,the only bid received. as follows.?Nell to a depth of 750 feet, First 200 feet 6.25,next 200 feet 7.00 and 7.50 for the next 350 feet,- In hard rock where the driller can not make 10 feet in 8 hours the rate is ~ 8.00 per hour. Mr Tavis being present being present was called on at this time and he saying he had been ,asked by some of the property owners of the city to attend this meeting. He again offered to let the City use his on Heald and Riley Streets if they cleaned it outs 'Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield second by Councilman Goodwin that the City Council aseept the bid of U.S.Murphy for the drill. of a water wall at what is known as Warm Springs Park,which motion was carried by the following vote. Councilman Merrifield yes " " Allen no Noes one " Goodwin yes " " NTatich yes Absent none Mayor Tarpley yes Whereupon it was moved by Councilman NTatich second by Councilman Merrifield that water commissioner Goodwin be authorized to have City attorney Best draw up a contract for the drilling of a water well betwe U.S.NTurphy and the City of Elsinore and Authororize the Mayor and City clerk sign said contract. which motion upon vote was carried. Mr Harris of North Lewis. StrBetrat this time is called on,a;nd he-asked - the City Council about repairing Lewis street as it was in very bad shape. The Council unformed him .that .they would Look this street over. on Sunday and let him know what could be done. Thereupon Councilman. Allen reads ordinance No.266 it being an ordinance to collect z of 1 percent sales tax within the City of Elsinore. Whereupon it~was moved by Councilman Goodwin eecond-by ~ouneilman Merrifield That City clerks,City Treasurer,an~ water=and license clerks reports be accepted as ,.read and ordered Filed which motion upon vote was carried.
