The meeting was called to order at the hour of ` ~ ~~ ' 7:30 P. M. with iYayor Tarpley in the chair. ~; Councilmen: Leslie Merrifield, John Allen, Robert Goodwin and Mayor ;' Tarpley answer roll call. Councilman ~~~atich absent. ~ Minutes oP the adjourned meeting of April 29th read by the clerk and there being no errors or omissions, were approved as read. Thereupon a petition and letter was read from ivTr. Segail asking for ~ the re-zoning of lots 7-9-11-13 of block 14 facing Poe St. Mr. Segail states in his letter that he would pay the costs of said re,-.zoning up to X50.00. i i Whereupon it•°was;rriovelby_Councilman Goodwin, .second by Councilman Allen that meeting adjourn to meet as a planning Commission to act on a I re-zoning. Which motion was carried. Meeting reconvened with the following Councilmen answering roll call Leslie Merrifield, John Allen, Robert Goodwin and Mayor Tarpley; Council- man Matieh absent. Thereupon the Mayor called for the opening of bids for drilling City treater well; they being advertized to be opened at this time and daze. ` Clerk then read the only bid received. It was from the Pirm of Kil- ~ patrick and Moulton of Long Beach. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield second by Councilman Goodwin that the bid of Kilpatrick and Moulton be accepted and they be ` informed of this action of the Council, and to start drilling as-soon as possible. ~'ahich motion was carried by the following vote: -. Councilman P/ierrifield Yes Noes None _._ ~ " Allen Yes , " Goodwin Yes Absent one ~', ~' P,~ayor Tarpley Yes j', Thereupon the clerk read a letter from Robert Robinson asking the Council to close the north 125 Peet of Langstaff St. This being North of State highway 395 and a dead end street. Mr. Robinson being present gave his reasons for wanting it closed at this time. ',,i Whereupon it was moved by Councilman l+ierrifield, second by Council- '' ,~ ,~ man Allen that this matter of closing Langstaff St. be tabled to next °` ~ meeting for action at that time. Which motion upon vote was carried. ( ~ ' Thereupon a letter from the County tax collectors office was read b the clerk. They stating that if the city would mail--in a check for X1$5.37, they would mail back a deed to the property, required by the i i city. ~Nhereupon it was moved by Councilman PJterrifield, second by Couneil- man Goodwin that clerk be authorized to issue a warrent to County tax ~; collector for X185.37 in payment of Lois 62, 63, 65, 66, 69, in blk. 14,E f ', ~. - - ---- --- - = ~- Whereupon mayor Tarpley makes a motion which was seconded by Council- man Goodwin that the Mayor be given permission to put his own desk 'in the City Hall. t~R~ich mot~.on upon vote was carried.... Whereupon it was movedby Councilman-Goodwin, seconded by Council- man Allen that City Vs~ater and Street Supt. Johnson be given two weeks vacation starting May 16th. Which `motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon the clerk reads ordinance no. 263, an ordinance ammending ordinance no. 203 to change the discount on water bills. P~hereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield, second_by Council- man Goodvrin that ordinance no. 263`be passed to its 'second ,reading. ,Which motion `upon vote was carried. 4~~ereupon it was moved by Councilman.+ierrifield, second by Council- man Goodwin that the City Clerk be authorizedto cash the war .bonds and, deposit in water fund. Which motion 'upon vote was carried. `Thereupon Councilman Merrifield reads resolution No. ,4.28 being a re- solution granting. the American Legion a new lease on the property :they now hold under the old lease and adding the easterly half oP-same lots to them. _, 4Vhereupor~ it was moved by Councilman ~"err ifield, second by Do,uncil- j man Allen that resolution No. 4.28 be adopted as read and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign lease with the Legion. Which motion on vote_ was carried. "thereupon it was mooed by Councilman-Merrifield, second by Council- ; man Goodwin that the Mayor and c erk be authorized to sign a contract with Ailpatrick`& Moulton for drilling City well with the approval of the City Attorney., Whibh motion :upon vote was carried. yhereupon it was moved ,tiy Councilman Merrifield, second by Council- man Goodwin that the City Treasurer and City 'Clerks report be accepted as Audited`by Auditing Committee .and filed. Which. motion upon vote was carried. i . Vhereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield, second by Councilman Goodwin that dity water and license clerks report be accepted as read and filed. Which motion upon vote was. carried.. Vhereupon it was moved b Councilman Merrifield, second by Council- Y i man Goodwin that bills be allowed as audited. by Committee and clerk issue warrents for same. T°Jhich motion upon vote was carried. Whereupoh it was moved by Councilman Merrifield; second by council- man Goodwin that meeting adjourn to meet again on May 2'Jth at the regular time and place.
