The meeting was called to order at the hour of 7:3o P.Is_. with TLayor ~ .1~. Tarpley in the chair. Councilman john Allen, Leslie lrerrif'ield, ''T. P. Smith, rred Sto] and PIayor J.iL. !'arnley answered roll call. Yes ~L'rxereupon the clerl read resolution 471, a resolution appointing Ellsworth ?3rady as +'ire Chief for- the City of :r3lsnore at a salary of ~>10.00 per month. '.'Thereupon it eras moved by Councilman T]'errifield, second by Councilman Smith that resolution ?To. Hutchins asked that he be granted permission to operate vrater rafts on the lake at the foot of i_ellogg Street. This'i~.atter tabled fo7 further investigation. Nir. Tavis asked tl~,t tine Council take some action to stop owners of rooms for rent from going to Dus Depot to solicit business; states that triey make false statements vrhich is a misder~~eanor. Deputy Attorrie; Gediman to take this for corsideration as to a City Ordinance. R:r. Yarbrough asks that the-Cityy sell the P,lsinore Progressive League tvvo lots for ti?air club-house, reminding the Council that thej had told hixa he could buy one and now as their building c^ras bigger than they first figured, they needed an additional lot. y ':+a~ereuron it was ~;~oved by Councilman ierrifield„second,b3T Councilman Smith, that the request of the Elsinore Progressive League be tabled ti 11 next meeting, which,xaotion upon vote was .carried. Thereupon the Clerk read a letter from P=enneth Bur~liardt, who T1 ad been City Garbage Collector, sayin>; he had not been given a long enough notice of dismissal. n?o action on this matter, as it was a closed issue.. ';Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Ps4errifield, second key Councilman Allen that Thomas '.~`lilson be made City Pound Piaster and Dog Catcher, as per recommendation of Councilman Smith., i~rhich motion upon vote was carried. Councilman Smith stated that said-Pound master would do this work and get m~hat he made on penalties, being a charge of one dollar for each dog plus fifty cents a day .•for feeding. `!•;7:ereupon it vaas~oved by Councilman Iaierrifield, second by Councilman stokes that Councilman Smith, Police Commissioner; be authorized to repair the jail door as needed, which motion upon vote was carried. :']hereupon it was moved by Councilman Tvierrifield, second by Councilman Stokes that as there was some misunderstanding about laws having to do vaith dogs that the chairman request the County Health Dept, to have 1vlr. I"filler attend the next meeting of the Council and explain these laws, which motion upon vote vvas carried. Per. Pe1kr,2an, member of theCity Fire Dept, suggests to tine Council that the City should have two Resuscitators with the large territory this valley covered where drowning might occur. The Counei3i told Mr. Pelkman that it should be up to the County to furnish a resuscitator for the community outside of the City limits, as Cit*~ funds could not be used for such purpose. t`dhereupon it eras moved by Councilman A11en, second by Councilman Stokes that the clerk write the board of supervisors and the T.Iayor to contact organizations of the valley asking them also to write to the Board of Supervisors asking t'r_e County to have a resuscitator furnished for this part of the County, v~ ich motion upon vote vaas carried. ^lhereupon it moved by Councilman Allen, second by Councilman Merrifield that the bills be allowed as audited by the auditing committee and clerk b~~ instructed to issue warrents for same, which motion upon vote 4vas carried. ~,tirhereupon it was moved by Councilman Il4errifield, second by Councilman A11en that the City ',°later and License Clerks report be accepted as read and filed, which motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon Councilman Merrifield read in part the report of A11en O. Smith who audited the books ar_d accounts of the City for the fiscal year 1946-47. 'shereupon it was moved by Councilman T~4errifield, second by Councilman Stokes that the Auditing Committe, Councilman Allen and >!.errifield meet wits. the City Treasurer, which motion upon vote was carried. ~Pnereupon it was moved by Councilman P.~ierrifield second by Councilman Stokes that the meeting adjourn to meet again on Monday, August 18th as an adjourned zr~eeting at the regular time and place, which motion upon vote Naas carried. ~' iti YO .. ........
