A regular,~meeting of the City Council of the City of Elsinore
was held on the above date..The meeting ivas called to order at the
hour of 7:30 P.M. with Councilman Allan acting PvSayor in the chair.
Councilman John Allen, G~7. P. Smith and Fred :Stokes answered
roll call, Councilman Merrifield°and Mayor Tarpley absent.
Thereupon the Clerk read the minutes of the July 14th meeting
and were approved as corrected, the correction taken care of by the
following motion.
~tN.hereupon-it was moved by Councilman Stokes, second by Council-
man Smith that the name of L. W. Brown be stricken from Resolution
- 467 as requested, therefore I~7r. Patterson being the Leaser for the
Boat:Zariding,-which motion was carried by>the following vote:

Stokes Yes' Absent Two
Thereupon the Clerk read Ordinance No: 279, an ordinance fixing
tax rate for 1947-48 for its second reading.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Stokes, second by Council-
man Smith that,Ordinance No. 279 be'passed and adopted as read and
clerk°have same_publshed once in the Elsinore Leader-Press, which
motion v~ras carried by the following vote:
Councilman Allen Yes ATOes None
Smith Yes
Stokes Yes Absent .Two
At this time, 7:50 O'clock Councilman Taierrifield re~~orts present.
Councilman Smith, Police Gormnissioner,.states"'that one of the
officers, Sam Seed wanted the week starting July 26th off on vacation,
this matter left up to the Police Commissioner. Also the hiring of
a Special Officer to take Officer Seed's place while off, left up to
Commissioner Smith.
- Zhereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield, second by
Councilman Smith that the amount per month for Park'Gustodan-be
stricken from Resolution No. 435- and rescinded, which motion-upon vote
was carried.
- Thereupon the Clerk read resolution No. 469, a resolution
employing James-Anderson as a'fu11 time Park Custodian at 4150.00 per
month.

which motion upon vote was carried. ;

T+Ihereupon it was moved by Eouneilman Smith, second by Councilman Stokes
that-clerk be instructed to riake out a demand for.elevenhours; of stenographic
vaork for 'police department at '75¢ per hour, which motion upon vote was carried.
'Nhereupon it was moved by Councilman Smith, second by Councilman Stokes
that Councilman-P,~Terrifield, Park Co:rmlissioner be given authority to have the
City Beach property cleaned up as he saw fit, which motion was: carried by the
following vote:

carried by the following vote.:

that Councilman Stokes, 'Iater.Commissioner,-be authorized to have"the FTater Dept.
pick-up truck taken to a garage and have,brakes,relined and other needed work done,
which motion was carried by the following vote:

Councilman A11en reports that the Garbage Collector was getting straightened
out,and!very,f ew complaints-were coming in.
A number of visiters present spoke, John Hiese asked that a firs plug be put in
near his.cour~lon Lake bore Drive. Pf1r. ~4rilson asked more information in regard to a
sewer in the Northwest part of the City.
VThereupon it~was moved-by Councilman Stokes, second by=Councilman P;aerrifield,
that Councilman Allen., ,Street Commissioner, be given authority to have Dean Fletcher
use his Bulldozer to push the .cans, etc.., back on, the City Dump, which motion upon
vote was carried.
']hereupon it vaas moved by Councilman S.^:ith, second by Councilman Stokes, that
m2eting.be adjourned to meet again on Taonday, July 2~th, 1947, at the regular time and
place, which motion upon vote was carried.
