MINUTE RECORD OF
MEETIIIG HELD OK THE 7th
DIY OF July ]9 47
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of .Elsinore
eras held on the above date. The meeting was called to order at the
hour of~ '7:30 P.~rT. with Councilman John Allen Acfing Il~Tayor in the chair
Councilmen John Allen, Leslie i',~~errifield, 'I. P. Smith and
Fred Stokes answered roll call. ~syor'~arpley absent.
Thereupon John Allen, Acting Iviayor, announces that this being
the time and place for the public hearing on the rezoning of lots
7, g and 11, block 14, from a Rl zone to a R3 zone, and notice of said
hearing had-been published in-the local nev~spaper on June 26, 1947.
He called on those present to`speal>-against said rezoning if they so
..:desired.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Alen, seconded by
Councilman Smith, that as there being `no protests ahd that public
interest required the rezoning of said property as applied i'or, that
the petition for rezoning be granted, which motion was carried by the
following vote:

Thereupon the clerk read ordinance No. 278, an ordinance amendin
ordinance No. 236, removing-lots 7, 9 and '11, block 14, from a Rl zone
and placing same ih a R3 zone.
Whereupon it was moved by Councils~an Aerrifield, aeconded by
Couneilrnan Smith,'that ordinance bTo: 27g be passed to its second read-
ing, which motion was carried by the following vote:

Councilman Smith, Police Commissioner, reports that there had
been some`shifting of the rnen on the Police Department, without his
" knowledge. ,;
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Ivlerrifield, seconded by
Councilman Stokes, that Councilman Smith, Police Commiss3.t58er, be gi
authority to rectify any changes that had been made in the palide,.

Thereupon the Clerk read resolution No. x:65, a resolution
declaring the position of I„iaintenance Superintendent vacant as of
August 1, 1947.
Vdhereupon it was moved by Councilman Smith, seconded by Council-
man Stokes that resolution i~o. 465 be passed and adopted as read, whic
motion was carried by the fo11o~•aing vote:

deputy City. Attorney Gediman reports that he had contacted S:ir.. Chudliegh in
regards to his lease with the .city on beach property and that there had been no
intent to violate the terms of `the lease and upon recommendation of Attorney Gediman
the following motion was duly made and passed.
6"dhereupon it was moved ,.h.y Councilman Derrifield, seconded by, Councilman
Stokes that Air. Chudliegh be given a nevi lease for five years on the front
l00 x l00 feet of said. property, ~aaying in advance x'75.00 per year for the last
two years of leaser,the three first years 'raving been paid.- Brown and Patterson
to be given a five year lease on the balance of said property extending into
the lake at x'75.00 per year payable yearly in advance. Attorney Gediman authorized
to draw. up the .two leases with resolution attached to present to the Council at
their regular. meeting duly 11;., 1847,-for adoption. G'Thich motion upon vote was
carried.

Councilman Allen reports that the neon garbage collector tiuas getting caugrit
up and had the collections pretty vaell lined up and Arobably would not have any
more complaints. Suggested that old fire hose be left at the:; City Dump so that
they could vaet down the dump after burning so as to leave no cr_ance for afire to
get started.
CVhereupori it was moved by Councilman P,Serrifield, seconded .by ,Councilman
Stokes that the bills be allowed as audited. by Auditing Conmittee,--.and .clerk
instructed to issue currents for sane, which motion upon vote t~7as carried.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Stokes
that meeting adjourn to meet again on t.onday, July 14, 194, at the regular time
and place, which motion upon vote r;gas carried. -
