The meeting was called to order at the hour oP '7:30 P.I~i. with iv?ayor Tarpley in the chair. Councilman John Allen, Leslie Merrifield, JJ. P. Smith, Fred Stokes and I~~iayor Tarpley answered roll call. Thereupon the Clerk read the minutes of the adjourned meeting of June 16th and there being no errors or omissions was approved as read. Thereupon the clerk read the .final report of the Planning Oommissi recommending the rezoning of Lots 7, 9,,and 11, Block lw,' Prom R1 to R3. tiVhereupon it was moved by Councilman Allen, second by Councilman IvTerrifi.eld that the report. of the Planning Commission be accepted and that D~ionday, July 7th,'1947, be set as the date for a public hearing.. before t}~e City Council, and have notice published once in the Elsinore Leader-Press, which motion *raas carried by the follooving vote.: .Councilman. Pipeline Construction Company be accepte€ by the City Council, but map and specifications be drawn up by city ', engineer before vaork was started. U~h.ereupon it.was moved by Councilman :Stokes second by Iviayor Tarpley that St. Paul Church be granted permission to run a stand July 4th 'and 5th, free of charge, at foot of Ke11og Street, which motion upon vote was-carried by the following vote: Councilman 'Allen Yes °} Ivierrifield ` `Yes `Noes None ~' Smith Yes " Stokes' Yes Absent I;Tone ' P.4ayor Tarpley Yes Thereupon the clerk read Resolution No 462, a Resolution entered into a nontract V~ith the County' of Riverside for County T-Iealth Service by the County Health Department for the ensuing year July 1, 1947 to June 30th, 1948. No. 277 be tabled until permission was received from the Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference for adopting their uniform code, which motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon. the clerk read a letter from Paramount Pest Control Service giving the price of :150.00 for the first z~onth-and ~k75.00 a month thereafter for extermination of cockroachs and water beetle's from the° sevaer s5rsters of the city. Whereupon it `was moved by'Councilman Allen second by Councilman Stakes that the letter from'the Paramount Pest Control Service be tabled, which motion upon vote was carried.' __ Whereupon it was moved by Councilman A11en, second 'by Councilman Stokes, that the recommendation of Iviayor Tarpley for the appointment of Fred Fhyne as a member of the City Planning Commission be acgepted by the City Council, which motion upon vote was carried. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Smith second by Councilman Stokes, that a license be granted to Patterson Ec Brown for 'a boat landing for a period of three months at the regular fee. They tb be given a lease after city had contacted T,Ir. Chudliegh, the present leassee, which motion upon vote was carried. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Stokes second by Councilman P,Zerrifield, that police commissioner Sreith be authorized to spend up to ~p60.00 to repair the City Jail, vlhieh motion upon vote was carried. ?Whereupon it vaas moved by Councilman Smith second by Councilman Stokes, that the Janitor remove all stored equipment in the City Jail to another location, which motion upon vote was carried. V~71:ereupon it was mog:ed by Councilman Merrifield second by Councilman Allan, that the luditing Committee contact different public accountants and get prices for the yearly audit of city books, which motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon mayor Tarpley called on Mr. YVilson vaho asked the City Council regarding new sewer lines on Poe and Langstaff Street, and was informed by the Council that he would have to circulate a petition among the property owners on those streets, and turn the petition in to the City Council for action. Thereupon IFrayor Tarpley asked the Council if there be no objection he would appoint Councilman Allen as acting mayor of the City Council while he was avaay on vacation.
