P Smith,, -Fred Stokes, and Pv?ayor Tarpley answered roll call. .Thereupon the Clerk read the minutes of the April 28th:. meeting and tYiere being no errors or ommis3ions were approved as read. Calendar No. 7 This being the time and place for the public hearing on the pro- posed,rezoning-of. the following: Beginning.: at. the,,intersection of the east Iine oP gain Street `and the'-North line :of Sumner Street; thence Easterely 150 feet; thence Northerly parallel with Nain Street to P,Tinthorn Street; thence 72sterly along &linthor~ Street to a point 180 feet t^J~sterly of tha ;'dent. side of Iv:ain> Street; thence Southerly and parallel vrith iv7ain Street to the intersection vrith the T.dorth line of Sumner Street; thence Easterly along Sumner Street to the point of beginning, by removing the., same from R3 and placing same in B1 Zone. Thereupon the Clerk reported that this being the'time and place as advertized, for the opening of bids for gasoline to he delivered to the City of Elsinore at their City yard. Reporting three bids had been reeeived'as follows:- Standard'Osl Co., Chevron Supreme Gasoline x.168, Chevron Gasoline .115, General Petr'Qleum Corp. &tobilgas Special'Gasoline x.165, P1;obilgas Gasoline ~.1~,5, Richfield Oil Corp. Richfield Ethyl Gasoline h,~.165, Hi-Octane First Grade Gasoline ~.1~.5 Thereupon it was~Imved by Couhcilman rlIerrifeld, second by Councilman Allen that the bid of the Richfield Oil Corp. be accepted by the City Couhcil and the Clerk instructed to notify the Richfield Oil Co. of said action, which motion was carried by th.e following vote: i Councilman Allen Yes " fderrifield Yes Noes RTOhe Smith Yes St~dkes Yes Absent None TuIayor Tarpley Yes Thereupon the Clerk read the resignation of A. E. Simmeh of Police, he was accepting a position on-'the Ontario Police Dept. commencing June 1, 1947. ~Nhereupon it was moved~by Councilman Smith, second by Council- man Stokes that Chief of Police A. E. Simmen resignation be aecept~d with regrets and that he be granted the last week of Liay=vacation with pay, which motion was carried by-the following vote: Councilman Allen Yes " IrGerrifield Yes, Noes 1~?one " Smith yes " Stokes Yes Absent None Tv?ayor Tarpley Yew' Thereupon tho Clerk read a letter from Thomas Hudsoh complaining as to the ball park lights throwing a strong glare into their front yard. This matter turned over to 'Park Commissioner %ierrifield. Also °read'letter from N;r.`1NcKee about City draining storm water onto their property,-this matter turned over to Councilman"'Allen, street Commission Thereupon the Clerk read the following x°ecommendation of the Planning Commission. That the City Council not permit"garages to be converted into living quarters since they could not be made fully fit for living quarters ahd`at the soma time cause the Streets to be clogged -with-cars. That definite plan be submitted to the"Plahning Commission before any work was started on the proposed changing of grade on '~~est end of Prospect Street. That tie City Council issue'no more permits to allow huts from Army ,carr.ps or any other huts of similar type to come J into the City limits of :~;lsinore. whereupon-it seas moved by Councilman .Stokes, second by_Couneilraan Smith, that the building inspector be ordered to issue no more permits for the moving in of the Hrmy huts or huts of similar type, which motion vaas carried by the following vote: Councilman Allen Yes ~+ Merrifield Yes Noes None :r _ ..Smith Yes. _ +' Stokes Yes Absent, None &iayor Tarpley Yes 'dfhereupon_it was moved by Councilman Stokes, second Y~y Councilman Merrifield, that the Building inspector $iVm. Thereupon the clerk read an agreement with the division of ,Highways for the upkeep and repair of .highways and traffic,signs within the .City limits of Elsinore controled by the state from the-one quarter cent-gas tax alloted to the City. t'Vhereupon it was .;moved by Councilman Merrifield, second by Councilman Allen .that the. agreement be accepted by the City and the.. Z",ayor and.clerk he authorized to sign said Agreement and return two copies to their San Bernardino. office, which motion upon vote was carried. ..Thereupon the clerk read the ?Vaterand License clerks report for April. 'Nhereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield, second by Councilman Allen that the water and license clerks report be accepted as read and filed, which motion upon vote was carried, Vmereupon it was moved by Councilman Allen, second by Council- man Stokes that the bills be allowed as audited by auditing committee. and clerk instructed to issue warrents for same, which motion upon vote was carried.
