Tie meeting was.,called,to order at-,the hour of ']:30 P.&1., with Mayor Tarpley in the chair:. Councilman--Leslie Merrifield, Fred Stokes, ~^T.P. Smith, and Mayor J.A. Tarpley answered roll call. Councilman Allen; absent., Thereupon the Clerk read the minutes of the March 10th meeting and were approved as corrected. • I i rWhereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield, second. by Council- man Smith, that Council adjourn to meet as,a Planning Commission„.which motion upon vote wa§ carried. Council again called to order by Mayor Tarpley at 8:00 P.n4. Councilman Leslie Merrifield, Fred Stokes, iJ.P. Smith,, P~4ayor J.A.. Tarpley answered roll call, Councilman Allen absent. Thereupon the Clerk made a tentative report of the Planning Com- mission recommending.- the rezoning of lot 13 block 1W, of the Totiva of Elsinore by removing same from zone "Rl" and placing same .in a "C" zone, together vaith a request for an order fixing-the time for hearing before the Planning,Cmmmisson and specifyng,the notice to ge given thereof . Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield, second by Council- man Smith that the time for said matter before the Planning Oommssion be ~t for, Monday; April„'J, 1947,> at the hour of 7,30 o-'clock P.N;. and .that notice gf said hearing be given by,postn~ the same in the ..front window of the; City Hall in the City of Elsinore, at ,.least one .week before the date of said hearing, which motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon the..-Clerk read. application from Leal Denning asking for a license to operate card tables, acting on this tabled till next. meeting. ~, Thereupon Clerk read letter from ,the May Co. Realestate Brokers, asking cost; of sewer. qn Block ~.1~., Levas: Street. - ?Nhereupon it waa moved by Councilman Merrifield, second by Council- man Stokes that Clerk be instrucaed to write PJiay Co,., that,the cost, would be approximately X2000.00 and sewer would be installed as soon a's monegrwas deposited with City Clerk ,if material was, available at this time,, which motion upon vote ..carried..., , Thereupon the Clerk reported receipts of check for X547.58 from Southern Calif. Gas Co, also check for X171.49 from State Comp. Insur- ance refund saved on Premium. , 6~hereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield, second by Council- man Smith that check from Southern Calif. Thereupon. Mayor Tarpley, read .a recommendation to have more street. lights installed and replace all 40 watt lights w~th.100 watt lights. 'r~ereupon it was moved by Councilman Smith, second by Councilman Stokes, that the rriatter of the street lights'be tabled till April 14th. meeting; which motion upon vote .was carried., ;' Whereupon it was moved by Councilman smith, second by Councilman Stokes, that street Supt. Johnson be authorized to repair light at Hot Springs Hotel as needed, which motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon. the Clerk read Resolution No. 452 a resolution .leasing to Doyne and.-Marion Stokes, certain property on Lake- Shore Drive-for a term of `f if teen"years and authorizing Clerk to sign same. VVYiereupon it ovas moved by Councilman Smith, second by Councilman Merrifield, that resolution No. 452 be passed and adopted as read, which motion was carried by the following vote. Insurance fund be accepted and clerk-d'epos`it°t same in proper fund, which motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon the Clerk-read Resolution No. 447, a resolution fixing the salary of the City Attorney at fifty dollars per mohth, ahd' authorizing City Attorney Best to appoint Arthur Gediman as Deputy City Attorney. • 'whereupon it was moved by Councilman Stokes, secohd b~T Council- . man Smith that resolution No. 447 be passed and adopted as read and City Attorney Best's letter be attached to•said'resolutibn, which - motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon the Clerk read Ordinance No ., 271 and ordinance amending ordinance`No~.`236 for its second reading. C~hereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield, second by Council- man Smith that ordinance No. 271 bP passed and adopted and Clerk have said 'ordinance published once'in'the Elshore Leader Press, which motion was.earried by the following vote: Councilman Merrifield Yes= Noes None " Stokes Yes Smith Yes Absent One ;.Mayor ,, Tarpley.'. Thereupon Couhcilman Merrifield read an agreement with the County Tax Collector and Board°of Supervisors for the purchase of Lots Brock. at ;59.70, back taxes and advertizing cost. Also read ` resolution'No: 449 a resolution authorizing the l~~ayor and Cl"erk to sign agreement for•purehase of-said lots:.
