A .Regular Adjourned Ivieeting of the Cit;* Council of the Cit~;r of Elsinore was hel
the above date. The meeting eras called to order at the hour of 7:30 P.M. with Mayor

`~ Councilman:. T.J. Hudson, 61m. Morton, Fred Penrod, Thomas Yarborough and Mayor
ITarpley answer roll call.
Thereupon the Clerk read the minutes-of the August 23rd, 1948 meeting and there
Ili eing no errors or ommissions were approved as read.
';' Mayor Tarpley at this time stated to the members of the Council that the meetin
~~~ad been adjourned on the 23rd to this date for the purpose of employing a Building
~Snspector, reporting that there were three applicants, John Di Giacomo, A.W, Norton and
IlLawrence Jackson and that the Contractors Assn. had recommended Mr. Di Giacomo for the

Thereupon the Clerk reported that the Planning Commission had on Saturday Aright

Thereupon a ballot. vote was taken by the members of the City council and upon
ina the vote it was found that three favored Mr. Di Giacomo and two, Mr. Norton.
Thereupon the Clerk read Resolution No. 531, a resolution employing John R.

setting the salary of said position.

Thereupon the Clerk read a letter from B.T~1. Burchfield reporting to the Couneil
lithat the Post Office Department had accepted his bid for a new Post Office at 119 East
Il~raham Ave. and that the request for a change of location to Graham Ave. and Langstaff
~ t. had not beer. considered as it came in too late.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Penrod seoond by Councilman Hudson that the
l~lerk write to the Post 9ffice Department in tidashington D.C, and inform them that the
pity Council was very much opposed to the location chosen, it being located on a one
II'i'vay alley and a narrow street, therefore making it a hardship on every body concerned,
~rhich motion upon vote was carried.
Iii Thereupon the Clerk read a letter from the Chamber of Commerce informing the
I~ouncil that they had contacted the Division .of ?Iighways regarding four way stop at
i,raham and Main. Inclosed being an answer which stated that a survey would be made very

by the Division of Highways to-find out if said intersection rated a four way .stop
r ordered filed.
Councilman Morton at this time read a letter which stated that the peoplethat
d on the show to raise funds for the Childers Memorial wanted an itemized state-
published in the paper as to what was taken in and how much was netted. Council
n reported that this was being done.
The Lake situation brought up at this time and it was found that it was an em-
cy and some thing s+rould have to be done right away. People owning property on the
front stated that it was impossible for them to keep the beach clean.

A later report was received that the County were sending over prisoners to work
ning up the beach all around the Lake and would be at work by 9:30 A.M, on Tuesday
st 31st. Also that a meeting was being held on the aloa Beach Pier at 10:00 A.M. o~
31st and that 'supervisor i+dierick would be present.
i+Ihereupon it was moved by Councilman Hudson second by Councilman Penrod that
~g adjourn to meet again on September 13th, 1948 at the regular time and place,
motion upon vote was carried.
