A regular meeting of the City Council of the City o£ Elsinore was held on above date. The meeting was called to order at the hour of 7:30 P.BZ. with Mayor W.P. Smith in the chair. Councilman; John Allen, Leslie Merrifield, J.A. Tarpley, Fred Stokes and Smith answer roll call. Thereupon the clerk read the minutes of the regular meeting held March 8th, 1948 also the minutes of the regular adjourned meetings of March 9th and March 15th, 1948, there being no corr~tions or ommissions were apt;roved as read.- Thereupon the clerk read letters from property owners on west Sumner Street, asking for an extention of the sewer line, which they were willing to pay-for. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield second by Councilman Stokes that Street Commissioner Allen and water Supt. Harmon be authorized to install sewer as requested by Property Owners bn west Sumner Street as soon as said owners had deposited the cost of said work with the City Clerk, which motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon the Clerk read a letter from the Riverside Chamber of Commerce State aid for putting on Centennial Celebrations during 1948-49 & 50. rrlhereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield second by Councilman Allen t the letter o£ the Riverside Chamber of Commerce be filed, which motion upon vote carried. Thereupon the Clerk read a letter from Southern Calif. Gas Co. reporting Franchise statement for Year 1947 and inclosing check for sities amount due under Franchise. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield second by Councilman Stokes check be accepted and deposited in proper fund and statement letter filed, which n upon vote was carried. Thereupon the Clerk read a bulletin from the League of California Cities Legislature on Automobile In Lieu Tax. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield second by Councilman Stokes the bulletin from the League of California Cities be filed, which motion upon vote carried. Y -\ t^Riereupon it was moved by Councilman Allen second by Councilman Stokes that he Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids on gasoline to be furnished to the City n a one year contract for term from May 16th, 1948 to and including May 15th, 1949. aid bids to be opened by the City Council at there regular meeting April 26th, 1948 t 8:00 P.M., which motion upon vote was carried. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield second by Councilman Tarpley the. V.F.W. be granted permission to put up a banner for safety week on any City t except State Highways, which motion upon vote was carried. irJhereupon it was. moved by Councilman Allen second by Councilman Stokes that.. Sedco Civic Assn. be granted a free permit for their dance at Culture Club on h 27th, 1948, which motion upon vote was carried.
