R. ~$LRVICC C FOFM 7 8T/~N OARU MIN VTC RECOPO I A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Elsinore was held on i the-above date. The meeting was called to order at the hour of 7:30 P.M. with Mayor ~ _ I~Tarpley in the chair. III I, !~ ~~ Councilman: John Allen, Leslie Merrifield, W.P. Smith, Fred Stokes and ilMayor Tarpley answer roll call. ill ~ ~ ~~ Thereupon the clerk read the mihutes of the Dec. 22nd, 191+7 meeting and there being no errors or ommissions were approved as read. ~i ~ ~~ Thereupon the clerk read a letter from the Elsinore Union Grammar School ~I i ahking the City to make some improvements on Langstaff, Lindsay and Poe Streets near the Schooh This matter was turned over to Councilman Allen, street commissioner for '. investigation and report back at next regular meeting. I I ~' S ~ I Thereu on the clerk read a letter from the Count urve or in connection P Y Y II '' l with the numbering of houses in the City. Clerk instructed to write said County ;j II; Surveyor and have him attend the next regular meeting if possible and explain their ' Ili program. ~ Thereupon the Clerk read a letter from the League of California Cities ~I explaining why their annual dues had been raised from X75.00 to y~90.00, stating what I~ legislative work they were doing was a help to all cities of the sixth class, ill , Whereupon it was moved by Councilman A11en second by Councilman Smith that the dues of $90.00 dollars be paid to the League, which motion upon vote was carried. Calendar No. 12 A tentative report of the Planning Commission recommending the rezoning of Lot 10 and the westerly half of Lot 11 of Block E Jones Addition of the Town of Elsinore, by removing the same from an "R3" zone and placing same in a "B1° zone, together with a request for an order fixing the time for a hearing before the Planning Commission and specifying the notice to be given thereof was received. .Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Allen, second by Councilman Stokes that the request of the Planning Commission be tabled for two weeks and the clerk contact City Attorney Best on the matter, which motion upon vote was carried. i' Thereupon the clerk read ordinance No. 2$5 for its first reading, it being an Ordinance setting the amount of bond to be carried by .the City Treasurer, City Cler] Ii Bldg. Inspector and Chief of Police. ., 6Jhereupon it was moved by Councilman Merrifield second by Councilman Smith that Ordinance No. 2$5 be passed to its second reading, which motion was carried by III the following vote. SFRVICC C FOF ~/ BTAN OPRO MINUTE RECORU ~i whereupon it was moved by Councilman Allen second by Councilman Stokes that Mr. Harmon be instructed to report back at next regular meeting what the cost of l~a new bridge wnuld be, which motion upon vote was carried. III Mr. Williams of the Elsinore Hardware asked the Council regarding the con- demnation of the Buildings next to his store. Was told that the matter was in the hands of the Building Inspector and City Health Officer and that they were going according to the City Building Code. Mrs. Colvin part owner of said condemned building, also Mr. Gediman Deputy City Attorney and Building Inspector Meyer spoke on the same subject. Council taking no f urther action than was taken at the December 22, 1947 meeting. Councilman Allen, Street Commissioner reports that the new drain at Graham & Riley Street had been installed and commented Street Supt.. Harmon on the fine job he had done on same., also reported that Mr. McKee would repair the side walk at the same location in the-very near future. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Allen second by Councilman Smith that the City put in approximately seventy-feet of sewer for the Boy Scout Club House located on City Property and Mr. Harmon Street Supt. be authorized to go ahead with this sewer laying and get a digger to dig the ditch, which motion was carried by the following vote. Poe Streets a sked the Council about new sewers for their property, they having none. Councilman Smith explained the procedure for new sewer installation and Councilman Allen stated that work had been started for improvement of the City Sewer system but it would take some time before work actually started. Police Department requested that the Council give them the authority to employ the Police Matron every Saturday night. from 8 to 12 P.M. to answertthe phone, as this was their busy night. ~rJhereupon it was moved by Councilman Snith second by Councilman Stokes the Police Chief be authorized to employ the Matron each Saturday night and on the nights of special holidays from B to 12 P.M. Four hours at seventy-five cents per hour, which motion upon vote was carried. tidhereupon it was moved by Councilman Stokes second by Councilman Allen extra police were hired for a short time only be paid X1.00 per hour, which motion vote was carried. Whereupon .it was moved by Councilman Stokes second by Councilman Smith tha the City furnish no parking signs for the State Forestry Station on S. Poe Street, and Fire Commissioner Stokes be authorized to see that they were installed, which motion upon vote was carried.
