DRY.OF October Is 49 ~SFRVICC WIC FARM ~~ ST..NOI.RO A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Elsinore was held on the above date. The meeting-was called to order at the hour of '].30 P.M. with Acting Mayor Farber ih the chair. Mayor Tarpley being absent. i Councilman Fred Penrod, J.J.Tavis, T.R.Yarborough, and Acting D?ayor i Farber answer roll call. Thereupon the Clerk read the minutes of the meeting held on October 17 th. 1949, and there being no errors or omissions were approved as read. Thereupon the Clerk read a copy of the letter written by Mr. Francis H. Bulot, to the Department of Public Health, regarding changes in specifications to meet with their requirements, for the plans of the sewage treatment plant. Letter ordered filed, by Council. Thereupon the Clerk read a notice of the Lmperial ?Iighway Association meeting and dinner to be held at llarner~s Hot Springs, on Saturday Oct. 29, 1949. Thereupon the Clerk read a letter from the League of Calif. Cities, regarding unclaimed balances in two funds =.~hich the State has allocated to Cities, to be used for plan preparation, and site acquisition for any kinds of public works. These funds are to revert back to the State General .Fund if not applied for in the near future. i~iore information on this subject will be obtained by the City Clerk, at the Lear;ue of Calif. Cities Conference, now in progress at San Francisco,-and =.,rill report to the Council at its next meeting. Letter ordered filed by Council. Councilman Yarborough reported that he had contacted the County Tax Office, regarding the property at the east end of town, that the City was interested in acquiring for a new City Ihzmp. He stating that the County Tax Office would investigate and advise the City as to the minimum bid to purchase this property. Councilman Yarborough further stated that he had investigated the bridge on North Chaney Street, and finds it very much in need of repairs, in fact thinks it should be replaced with a new bridge. Mr. Roy r•?acy stated that he thought the bridge can still be repaired, just needs a new deck, and a near concrete foundation on the ldorth end. Council to wait for a further report from ?~?r. Harmon, Street Supt. on this matter. I Acting Mayor Farber at this brae called the Councils attention to some used desks and office equipment advertised in a Los Angeles newspaper, at very ` li reasonable prices. Stating that the City would be able to use some desks. '.=?hereupon it was moved by Councilman Penrod, second by Councilman Yarborough, that Councilman Farber be authorized to purchase four of these desi;s if he upon inspection found them to be north the money. Ydhich motion upon vote was carried. Ylhereupon it was moved by Councilman Tavis, second by Councilman Yarborough that the new City truck, and one of the City employees be authorized- to go with Councilman Farber to pick up these desks. GJhich motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon the Clerk read Ordinance No. 323, an Ordinance amending Urdinance 269, providing for the instating of separate water meters for each business establishment. Plhich motion upon vote was carried. Thereupon the Clerk read Ord;nance.tdo. 324, for its first reading. An Ordinance declairinp, the intention of the Cormcil to close portions of Silver St., t•Iohr St ., and Flint Street. thereupon it was moved by Councilman Yarborough, second by Councilman Tavis that Ordinance No• 324, be passed to its second reading. Roy racy registered his objections to the proposed street closing ordinance. Stating to the Council that !re owes Five acres of ground in the vacixrity of Flint & Silver Streets, and needs these streets to move his farm equipment, and machinerrJ to his property. Further stating that he is in the process of making a deal with Dr. Curtis .King, and requests the Council to delay action on this proposed ordinance until he and Dr. :ling reach arr agreement. whereupon it was moved by Councilman Yarborough, second by Councilman Tavis that the Council delay action on the second reading of Ordinance tdo. 324 until an adjourned meeting of the Council to be held on November 7th, 1949. %`?hich notion upon vote was carried. %whereupon it was moved by Councilman Tavis, second by Councilman Yarborough that the bills be allowed as audited by the auditing committee and the Clerk instructed to issue tirafrrents for sazne. klhich motion upon vote raas carried. ~dhereupon it was moved by Councilman Yarborough, second by Councilman Penrod that the meeting adjourn to meet again on ?4onday, ovember 7, 1949, as an adjourned meeting, at the regular time and place. ~:Ihich motion upon vote was carried. -~~ ~~ yo of he _ty of~ sinore City Clerk o£ the
