DRY OF October Page # 1 Z949 A regular adjourned meeting of the City Council of .the City of Elsinore was held on the above date. The meeting was called to order at the hour of 7.30 P.M. with Mayor Tarpley in the chair. Councilman Samuel Farber, Fred Penrod, J.J.Tavis, T.R.Yarborough, and .Mayor Tarpley answer roll call. Thereupon the Clerk read the minutes of the meeting held October 1U, 1949 and there being no errors or omissions were approved as read. ~~Ihereupon it was moved. by Councilman Yarborough, second by Councilman Tavis that a street light be installed at the intersection of East Hill and Pottery in addition to the three authorized at meeting of October 10, 1949, which motion upon vote was carried. ^ihereupon the Clerk read a letter from City Attorney Best, in regards to llr. Ryden's water bill, which was tabled for further investigation b;y Council. Thereupon the Clerk read a letter from the Attorney representing Mr. Jake Sapkin, owner of the Plaza property, stating that P4r. Sapkin would not deed a ten £oot strip, for sidewalk to the City free, but would consider a price of $v 750.00. ?=thereupon it was moved by Councilman Penrod, second by Councilman Yarborough. that the matter of this letter be tabled. ?which motion upon vote was carried. Councilman Penrod, Police Commissioner, reported that the City should install speed limit zone signs on Plorth Spring Street, as this section was not posted, and cars could speed and rro way of controlling said speeders. 4where~.rpon it was *.rved by Councilman Yarborough, second by Councilman Farber that the Clerk be authorized to purchase 25 and 35 rrile sigrrs. `rlhich motion upon vote was carried. Cowrcilman Yarborough, Street Commissioner, reported that the bridge on North Chaney Street was in bad shape, and needed repairing. Mr. Harmon I~iaintenance Supt., stated it would cost approximately 9y 800.00 to `~ 1,000.00, dollars to do this repairing. Councilman Yarborough stated he would investigate again and report back at the next meeting, before any actior. was taken by the Council. Cowicilman Yarborough, and Cowicilrnan Farber reported on the closing of certain Streets for Dr. Curtis ?ling. Councilman I~'arber did not think it a good move to close all streets as requested. ~~dhereupon it was moved by Councilman Yarborough, second by Councilman Tavis that proceedings be stated to close the following named Streets, Silver, Pottery to Flint, Mohr from Oleander to Flint, and Flint from Lewis to Chaney, as reouested b-r Dr. Curtis King. `which motion was carried by the Following vote. DRY OF October Is49 ?,thereupon it was moved by Councilman Farber, second by Councilman Yarborough that plans and specifications be prepared for the proposed new library building, and negotiations be stated with the-Hal Construction Co., for the building of said library buildings ~;lhich motion was carried by the following vote. Street Supt., now held by Building Inspector lli Cxiacomo be discontinued as of this date. ?Jhich motion was carried by the following vote. Gdhich ?notion upon vote was carried. 6thereupon it was moved byr Councilman Tavis, second by Councilman Penrod that the bills be allowed as audited by the auditing committee and the Clerk instructed to issue warrents for sarne.'~Jhich motion upon vote was carried. Whereupon it was moved by tiayor Tarpley, second by Councilman Yarborough that the office of the Building Inspector be kept open five and a half days a week. 'r:hich motion upon vote was carried. thereupon it was moved bar Councilman Farber, second by Councilman Penrod that the salarur of the Park Costodian be increased to 175.00 per month. ?Jhich motion was carried by the following vote.
