A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Elsinore was held on the ~
above date. The meeting was called to order at the hour of 7:30 P.M.,with Mayor
Tarpley in the chair.

Tarpley answer roll call. - " "
Mayor Tarpley reported a meeting of the Citrus Belt Division of the California
League of Cities being held in Ontario on Thursday June 23rd, which was to be
given over try talks on sales tax and asked that the City Clerk be sent to the meeting.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Tavis seconded by Councilman Farber that
the City clerk be sent to the League meeting at Ontario on the 23rd o£ June, which ~
motion upon vote was carried.
Councilman Tavis reported that he found the General Petroleum well at Maui and
Franklin Streets still uncaped and had this taken care of. Maintenance having
~ welded a cap on the well. ~I
Matter of Street improvement and maintenance brought up anddifferent suggestion
were made by members of the Council.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Yarborough seconded by Councilman Penrod
that Langstaff Street, South tb Limited and Limited from Langstaff to Poe Street
be included in the proposed budget for the coming fiscal year for blacktopping,
which motion upon vote was carried.
Whereupon it was moved bq councilman Yarborough, seconded by Councilman Tavis
that West Pottery Street be given a one inch oil mix coating job with Gasoline
Tax maintenance 1Und money, which motion upon vote was carried.
ti'lhereupon it was moved by Councilman Penrod seconded by Councilman Tavis that
the Police department be authorized to trade. in the present Ford Police car for a
new Chehrolet Deluxe fourdoor sedan, which motion upon vote was carried.
Mr. Holmes Chairman of the Park District Board was at this time introduced
who in turn introduced the other members of his Board, Mr. Gough, Mr. Hefty and
Wolf and Mr. Harrison, being absent. Mr. Holmes spoke on their plans for im-
proving the Lake Beach at different points for Gamp grounds. Asked that the City
consider giving City Beach property for one of these campts. Mr. Holmes stated
that if everyone in the Valley around the Lake could cooperate with the Park Dist-
rict he though that great improvements could be accomplised in a few years,._sueh
as a dam across the south, end,of +~helLake with a highway on top, parking area:,;.
boat landings and places~:wkiere ears; could park and people could have their lunch.
No action on this by the Council"but another meeting to be held in the hear fixture.
The City Clerk reported that he had been contacted by the Health Department and
that tkaey were finished with their part of the experim~xts of killing gnats. It
now being up to the people of the community to go ahead and do the spravhg which
would cost appro_~cim ately X500.00 for material pLis the cost of plane to do the
i dusting.
Whereupon it was moved by councilman Yarborough seconded by Councilman Tavis
that I~Ir. Truiett of the Garbage Dept, be given a two weeks vacation beginning July
1st, which motion upon vote was carried. ~

Ylhereupon it was moved by Oouncilman Yarborough seconded by Councilman Farber
~ that ifr. Bradley be employed at a salary o£,;~175.00 per month starting LJuly 1, 1949, ~
as a menber o£ the Garbage Dept. As two men now employed-were .unable to gather all I
garbage and waste matter, which motion upon vote was carried.-
