The meeting was'called to order. at the hour of `j;30 P.TI. i with Mayor Pdashburn in the chair. I ) I i i Councilman; Samuel Farber, Roy f4acy, J. J.-Tavis, Ray Hull and i .Mayor L~Iashburn answer roll call 1 ~ _. , ., , , ' '.Chereupon the Clerk read the minutes of the meeting of June 26, 1950 and there being no errors i1*ere approved as read. i I Thereupon the Clerk read a letter from Frank Ryden, Ai. D. he request- i j- ing the city to refund him money whicli.~he claims to have paid the city water ~ department, and should o£ not been billed for same. 14o action by the Council on I this matter. - Thereupon. the Clerk read a letter. from John:R. Di Giacomo Building Inspector, he stating that he was going back into government service and would '' like a leave of absence-from his city job'. ' I I Thereupon it was moved b,~,r P~iayor ??ashburn second by Councilman Macy ~. ~ that building inspector John R. Di Giacomo be granted an indefinate leave of absence. ;dhich motion upon vote was carried. •Yayor [Tashburn reported that he had contacted the-Currie engineering Co., and that they recommended that bids be let very soon on the disposal plant. i~ ` ~ ila~ror 6lashburn stateing that this would be done in the near future. Councilman Farber reported that two parties on Limited and Poe Streets had requested sewer connections, and were reader to make deposits as required by the city,.. ~ ~ ?%lhereupon it was moved by Councilmanr'arber, second by Councilman Hu11 I I ~ that the hSaintenance Dept. be authorized to make the requested connections as soon... as the cost to the property oi~rners was deposited with the City Clerk. lhich motion. upon vote was carried. Councilman :artier Street Co^imissioner, reported that he had reouests:. i for more streets to be oiled to settle dust, and that by a former motion he sti•11 j ~ had a double unit of oil comming. I ( ~ 'dhereupon it was moved by Councilman Farber, second by Councilman Tavis that the Maintenance Dept. be authorized to order a double unit of road oil. Trdhich motion upon vote was carried. j ~ The bids for legal notices again brought up at this time said accept- ~ ing oz bids haveing been. tabled at the June 26th meeting. ~ ;thereupon it was moved by councilman Macy, second by Councilman Farber that the hid of the Elsinore Leader Press for legal notices for the fiscal year i 1950- 1951 be accepted. !Jhich motion upon vote was carried. I e. - This being the time and place as advertised £or the public hearing on the proposed annexation to the cit;r of certain properties near the City Sewer Farm, Mayor Gdashburrr called for protests. One protest being in writing was turned in to the Clerk. DAY OF July, Is50 privilages and if granted they were ~+rilling to withdraw their protest. ?~ihereupon it was moved by Councilman Farber, secohd by Councilman Hu11 that all proceedings on annexation be tabled until the next regular meeting, which would be July 2LF, 1950,. which mot_~on upon vote was carried. Councilman t~facy asked the Council for a leave of absence from Council meetings for a period o£ thirty days, he .planning to leave the state. kdkrereupon it was moved by Councilman Farber, second by Councilman Tavis that the request of Councilman i+Iacy be granted, which motion upon vote was carried. Mayor Idashburn reported that a disaster program had been laid out in accordance with Ordinance No. 290, and that volunteers would be recruited in the near future. John Di Giacomo reported that approximately ~ 200.00 should be set aside for files, and other office equipment for the disaster council. No action by the Council. `Che Council chambers being well represented by business men and property owners, a few of the business men asked as to why the streets had been blocked off, so as to keep traffic o£f of main streets early in the morning when the parade of July 1~th. was not to start until 10;00 A.i~4. They claiming to have lost some business. No action bdr the Council. I1rs. i~4ona Leese at this time presented a petition for the reinstate- ment of Walter C. i3ittle. IIr. Bittle having been discharged at a special meeting held at 11:30 A.i~i, this date. Councilman Farber explained to those present that the Council was planning a five man police department, and that as there had beeiz complaints charging i~ir. Kittle with being discourtious the Council had desired to let him go. -1r. Kittle took the floor and stated that he had tried to operate the department to the best of his abilit~r, had worked long hours and o~jjected to being dismissed on the ,;rounds that had been stated. The petitions handed in had approximately 156 names attached asking that ;~Ir. 3ittle be given his job hack. ldo action on this matter by the Council. j~Ihereupon it was moved by Councilman Tavis, second by Councilman Hull that the bills be allowed as addited by the auditing committie, and Clerk instructed to issue warrants for same. `,dhich motion upon vote was carried. ldhereupon it was moved by Counci]rnan Hull, second by Councilman Farber that the report of the City Treasurer and City Clerk be accepted as read, and ordered filed. ~rlhich motion upon vote, tiaas carried. CJhereupon it was moved by Councilman Bull, second by Councilman Macy that the report of the City Water and License Clerk be accepted and orderer filed Ruch motion upon vote was carried. '`thereupon it was moved by Councilman 'avis, second by Councilman Hu11 that the meeting be adjourned to meet again on A4onday July 2!•, 1950, at the regular time and plane. !~hich motion upon vote was carried.
