Regular meeting of the City Council, City of Elsinore
MEETING HELD ON THE - Sth
DAY OF January Z9 51
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Elsinore. was held on
the above date. The meeting was called to order at the hour bf 7:30 P. M. with
Mayor Washburn in the chair.
r Councilmen J. Tavis, S. Farber, R. Macy, G. Hull and Mayor ?dashburn answered
roll call.
Thereupon, the clerk read the minutes of the previous meeting and there being
no errors or omissions, were approved as read.
Thereupon Clerk read Planning Commission meeting minutes.
~ Clerk read Resolution 64B and by motion of Councilman Hull, seconded by
Councilman Farber, was adopted as read. Motion, upon vote, was carried.
Whereupon it was motioned by Councilman Farber, seconded by Councilman Hull
that clerk publish Notice of Bids for City Storage Beservoir. Motion, upon vote,
was carried.
The clerk was instructed to write a letter of thanks to Pete Walker, for his
offer of his building, said offer having been refused by Council.
~nlhereupon it was motioned by Councilman Farber, seconded by Councilman T'avis,
that the Defense Council be authorized to purchase a small building for $75.00 and
authorized to expend necessary funds for wiring, gas line installation, small gas
heater, phone,. painting of said building and the sum of X25.00 for office indidentals.
Motion, upon vote, was carried.
Thereupon Clerk read letter from I~4r. Coxon on street lights in his neighborhood.
Whereupon it was motioned by Councilman Tavis, seconded by Macy, that Street
Committee investigate. Motion, upon vote, was carried.
l•~hereupon it was motioned;by Councilman Hull, seconded by Councilman Tavis, that
Clerk purchase 1500 business license cards and purchase orders. Motion, upon vote,
was carried.
Whereupon, by mos7gnp o Councilman Farber,. seconded by Mayor Washburn, clerk was
authorized to purchase city envelopes from U. S. post office. Motion, upon vote,
was carried.
Thereupon Clerk read letter from S. Kalin protesting waste pickup fee. The
matter to be held over until next regular meeting.
Whereupon it was motioned by Councilman Hull, seconded by Councilman Farber,
~ that clerk purchase Building Inspectors book. Motion, upon vote, was carried.
Councilman Tavis told council that Peck Street east of Main Street is a hazard
to traffic and some steps should be taken to eliminate parking on South side of
Peck Street from corner of Main Street east to first driveway and the North side
of Peck Street east 15 feet. Mr. Sapkin to investigate his side of the street and
inform Council if it would interfere with his business..

It was agreed that the police give 2 weeks warning with courtesy tickets III
on overpacking violators before strict enforcement o£ said ordinance.
[+]Ytereupon it was motioned by Councilman Tavis, seconded by Hull, that the
position of police officer Abels be hereby declared vacant and that he be given
a letter of recommendation. Motion, upon vote, was carried.
?Whereupon it was motion by Councilman Tavis, seconded by Councilman Farber,
that Mr. E4. Hit~fle be reappointed to fill the vacancy of Police Officer Abels. ICI

Whereupon it was motioned by Councilman Hull, seconded by Councilman Farber, it
that the Council approve o£ B. Coffman for Secretary o£ Defense Council .Motion,.
upon vote, was carried.
Whereupon it was motioned by Councilman Tavis, seconded by Councilman Hull, i~
that the bills be paid as audited by Auditing Committee. Motion, upon vote,

was carried.
Whereupon it was motionecby Councilman Tavis, seconded by Councilman Hull,
that the Treasurers and City Clerks monthly report be accepted as read. it

Whereupon it was motioned by Councilman Farber, seconded by Councilman Tavis,
that the Park Department purchase 2 toilet assemblies for• City Park. Motion,
upon w te, was carried.
Whereupon it was motioned by Maynr:i*Washburn, seconded by Councilman Hull, I ( .
that police telephone bell be changed over from 760 to 3311. Motion, upon vote, t
was carried. i
Whereupon it was motioned by Councilman Tavis, seconded by Councilman Farber,. l
that the Council adjourn until Saturday, January 13, 1951 at 1:30 P. M., Meeting
adjourned at 11:00 P. M.
