HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-06-1959 City Council Minutesw~ 71 COUNCIL MEETING JULY 6, 1959 The City Council of the-City of Elsinore met in regular session on July 6,1959, and was called to order at 7:30 P,M, with Mayor Bartlett presiding. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Davidson. Roll call found all five councilmen present. The minutes of June 22 were approved as read. ~~ Correspondence read was from the Recreation Board, the Library Board, Mrs. Alice M. Scott, Max Ruditz and Fire 6h~ef Boontjer. -- On motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Yarborough, Chas. Stephens and Walter Swick were reappointed to serve on the recreation board. The invitation of the Library Board to have the Council meet with them was accepted vrith meeting to be held Thurs. July 9 at 7:30 pm. Mrs. Scott's letter requesting a stop sign at W, Heald & Langstaff was referred to Councilman MCAdains on motion Councilman Macy, seconded Councilman McAdams carried. The first reading of Ordinance #389, officially closing Langstaff from Minthorn to the R.R, right of the way and the alley was passed on motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman P4acy, carried. Resolution #960 was adopted on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Davidson, carried. An increase in tank truck delivery rates was discussed and carried over to the next meeting on motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman McAdams. On motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Yarborough, it aras agreed to advertise for sealed bids to dispose of surplus city equipment consisting of a road grader, skip loader and recording machine. Bids to be opened at the Council meeting on July 20 at 8:00 P.M. Warrants audited by the committee were approved and ordered paid. The clerk's and treasurer's reports for June were accepted and ordered filed. Councilman Davidson requested that something be done to have the I tent removed from the front of Shafers Foundry. Councilman McAdams to investigate the situation. Councilman McAdams reviewed the proposed projects for street work _ to be done this fall. On motion Qouncilman Davidson, seconded Councilman McAdams, it was agreed that Councilman Macy purchase 500 ft. of 3" transite or equal° pipe and 1000 ft. 2" std. Black pipe. Fire Chdeef Boontjer requested that the City reem out the flag pole holes and also check on the water pressure in the fire hydrants. Mrs, Leese requested information on the lite situation for Mary Ann Davis on FranY.lin St, Councilman McAdams stated that Electix Co. placed lite where normally installed.
