HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-22-1959 City Council Minutes6 COUNCIL MEETING JUNE 22, 1959 The City Council of the City of Elsinore met in regular session on June 22, 1959, and was called to order at 7:40 P.M, with Mayor Bartlett presiding. Invocation was delivered by Rev. Clarence Schram, and Councilman Davidson led the Pledge of Allegiance. ~ Roll call found all five councilmen present. The minutes of June 8 were approved as read, and the Planning Commission minutes of of June 18th were accepted and ordered filed. On motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Yarborough, it was agreed to purchase the billing machine for the water dept. The time of the Council Meetings was changed on motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Yarborough to the first and third Mondays of the month. The gasoline contract for the coming year was discussed, and it was decided to purchase gasoline from the County Gontract on motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Yarborough, carried. The time having arrived for the Public Hearing on closing Langstaff Street ffiro~:M:~ithbrn St. north to the railroad right of way, and alley from Poe Street sougheaterly to the railroad right of :way,-the Mayor called for any protests to this closing. There being none, an ordinance will be drawn. On motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Yarborough, carried, it was agreed to hire a man on a thirty-day trial to read and repair meters and help out where needed. Needed repairs at the sewer plant were discussed with Mr. ®nderson to do what he can. Overtime compensation was discussed, but no official action taken. Warrants audited by the committee were approved and ordered paid on motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Macy, carried. Councilman Davidson inquired of Councilman McAdams about the street lite at dill and Franklin. Clerk to check resolution stating point ~ ', where it should have been installed. Councilman Macy reported that the pump man. reported that there was no obstruction in the well, but well shaft is crooked. Pump now being - 9.nstalled~ and should be installed and ready for testing on Wed. Water level 78 ft. Mrs. Leese requested the moving of the lite £rom the hill on Minthorn to the corner of Hill & Minthorn. Fire Chef Boontjer and John Merrifield spoke about the needed radios for the £ire crew.
