COUNCIL MEETING MAY 25, 1959 The City Council of the City of Elsinore met in regular session on May 25, 1959 wand was called to order at T:30 pm with Mayor Bartlett presiding. The Plddge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Davidson. Roll Call found all five councilmen present. The minutes of the meeting of Map 11, and the ad3ourned meeting of May 18, were approved as read. The Planning Commission minutes were accepted and ordered filed. Mr. Renee's request for a 5 ft. variance on his property on Townsend St, was approved on motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Yarborough, carried. Mr. Ganahl's letter on the sewer farm lease was read, with Councilman Macy reporting that the situation has been remedied. Lyle Rodges request to have the city grade the alley behind 1120 N. Main to allow him to gravel the alley at his expense carried on motion Councilman McAdams, seconded Councilman Davidson. The claim of Mary Shraer was denied on motion Councilman Macy, seconded Councilman Davidson, carried. Resolution 978 authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to sign the agreement re. salesl tax. collections carried on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Davidson. A request to have the Lt00 Block of Lookout St. blacktopped, and a Street light installed on Adobe St, were referred to Councilman McAdams for investigation. The second reading of Ordinance 387 carried on a roll call vote with the following results. Ayes: Davidson, Bartlett, Macy, McAdams, Yarborough Noes: None Absent: None The second reading of Ordinance 388 was tabled on motion Councilman Macy, seconded Councilman Yarborough, carried. j~The time for the Public Hearing on Rezoning a portion of Lot 2, Block % $8 on Minthorn St, having arrived, Mayor Bartlett called for any ob3ections to rezoning this property to an M-1 zone. There being no protests, the rezoning was allowed on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Davidson, carried. On motion Councilman McAdams, seconded Councilman acy, carried, the month of June was designated as Trash Piskup~~,iwhen property owners ~ may pile their trimmings and trash at front o£ property and City will ~ ~ pick it up. The bid of the Elsinore Feed Store to furnish the Park Dept, with a power mower at the cost of #196.51 was accepted on motion Councilman Macy, seconded Councilman Davidson, carried. The request of the Clerk for a billing machine in the water dept., was tabled on motion Councilman Macy, seconded Councilman McAdams. Warrants auditdd by the committee were approved and ordered paid. The Clerk's & Treasurer's reports for the month of April were accepted and ordered filed. 6~ Councilman Macy reported that the pump man should be here this Thursday, He also reported that he had contacted the Flood Control District about spraying the weeds in the ditch, but did not think they would do anything about them, and asked that a letter be sent to them demanding that this be done, or the City would withdraw from the District. After further discussion, it was agreed to send a letter of gentle reminder about the situation to them,. Councilman McAdams reported that he had a request from the property owners on Lowell from Heald to Sumner to furniHh them with a letter stating what the City would do in installing curbs for them. Councilman Macy & McAdams to draw. up letter. Mr. Latimer spoke of the dying Lake, and suggested that a letter fie sent to the Park Board backing up the idea.i. of drilling a well. Jack Oakly from Sedco asked about the $100 application fee now required from all contractors taking .out a city license. Councilman Macy explained that this fee was put in to protect the local contractors who pay taxes all year; Councilman Yarborough & Mayor Bartlett announced that a special hearing would be held on Tuesday, June 2, at 7:30 pm, to hear the views of contractors on the application fee. Ms. Schickman asked if any progress was being made on the mineral water situation, and was told that a letter had been sent, and just waiting for a reply.
