Adjourned Meeting of May 11, held on
May 18, 1959.
The City Council of the City of Elsinore met ~n an adjourned
session on May 18, 1959, at 2:00 P.M, with Mayor Bartlett presiding.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Davidson.
Roll call found all five councilmen present.
The minutes of May 11 were dispensed with until the next regular
meeting.
Councilman Macy brought up the proplem arising from dumping in the
sewer system by cess ool operators and suggested that the charge for
dumping per load be 7.50 to be paid in advance. Motion by Macy,
seconded by Yarborough, carried.
The clerk was instructed to forward a letter to the Department of
Public Health requesting a hearing with them to discuss the mineral
water situation. The entire council to attead.
Councilman Macy. stated that the man to repair the well would be here
this week, and would estimate the cost of repairing the wells and
pumps, Mayor Bartlett brought up the fact that the Water Dept. is
continually running in the red, and that an increase in water rates
would be the logical way to increase the revenue. Councilman
Yarborough suggested that a proposed increase be put on for a limited
time, to help defray the cost of necessary repairs to the city wells.
On motion Councilman McAdams, seconded Councilman Macy, carried, the
street light on Franklin Street is to be moved to the proper position
so as to light the entire street.
Letters of protest over the question of dropping the $100 application
fee for contractor's licenses were read from Ted Miller, E,G, Pellitier,
Anthony Junkley and C.P. Mapes. This discussion was tabled until a
later date.
Councilman Yarborough suggested that a letter be sent to the Glo-Fire
Co, notifyring them to fix the stairs descending from their property
on Scanner to Spring Street and suggest that they install a ramp in
place of steps.
On motion Councilman Macy, seconded Councilman McAdams, the meeting
d3ourned at 2tQ5 P.M.
