HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-11-1959 City Council MinutesCOUNCIL MEETING MAY 11, 1959 The City Council og the Cit of Elsinore met in re ular session on May 11, 1959 at 7:115 p.ra. w~th Mayor Bartlett presiding. Invocation was delivered by Pastor Schram, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Davidson. Roll Call was answered by all fine councilmen. The minutes of April 27 were approved as read, and the Planning Commission minutes of May 7, were accepted and placed on file. On motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Yarborough, ~ carried, the week of May 30th - June 7th, 1959 was proclaimed ~ United Jewish Appeal Weel. May 25th was the date set for the Public Hearing before the Council on the resoning of a portion of Lot '2, Block 88 on Minthorn St. The first reading of Ordinance 387 to repeal Ordinance 382 was carried on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Danidson. The first reading of Ordinance-388 setting trash collection rates on all businesses, and repealing Ordinance 308 and Amercing Sec. 3 of Ord. 357, carried on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Macy. Resolution 977 accepting the agreement for street maintainance from the state for the year 1959 - 60 carried on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Davidson. Councilman Davidson moved to adjourn to an adjourned meeting on May 18 at 2:00 PNI, secondeld Councilman Macy, carried. Councilman Yarborough requea~etl~~to have Davis St, opened through to Cheney Street,-which is blocked by Dr. King's fence. On motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Macy, carried, Clerk is to send letter to Dr. King requesting removal of fence in this section. Councilman McAdams reported that Mr. Goode from the Division of Highways was here to investigate streets in need of repair under their jurisdiction. Streets to be repaired so far are Lowell & Lindsey. Councilman Yarborough to investigate the necessity of a street light on FY~anklin. Louis Snyder requested that weed killer be poured in the flood control ditch on Heald Avenue, as flies and bugs make it impossible to rent his apartments.
