The City Council of the City of Elsinore met in regular
session on Feb. 23, 1959, at 7:30 PM, with Mayor Cheryl French
presiding.
Invocation was delivered by the Rev. Carl Schmitt, and Council
man Seitz led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call was answered by Councilman Bartlett, Councilman Seitz,
Councilman Davidson, Councilman Vi31a, and Mayor French.
A letter from the Air Pollution Control requesting a dustfall
jar be installed atop the City Hall was read.
The Townsend St. Variance for Mr. Rend was denied on motion by
Councilman Bartlett, seconded by Councilman Davidson, carried.
The deflouridation report by Crowley Co. was discussed and
Councilman Bartlett reported that he had no statement to
make at this time, as further tests are being made.' ~
The Webb report on the city's Water System was discussed.
Mayor French suggested a meeting with Mr. Bob Webb to go into
details of the report. Councilmen to be .notified when said
meeting is arranged.
Mr. Milt's request of taxi transfer held until word from
Public Utilities Commission. Post Office Request for white
curbs by newly installed mail box granted. Resolution to be
drawn up.
Councilman Bartlett's two proposed resolutions regarding the
city owned cars and trucks, and department heads being present
at council meetings are to be studied until next meeting.
Supt. Smith's report on Mr. Skipper's raise granted on motion
by Councilman Davidson, seconded by Councilman Seitz that he
he given a ten dollar raise retroactive to the end of his
probationary period. Mr. Planchon's request for a week's pay
in lieu of unused vacation in 195$ granted on motion Councilman
Seitz, seconded by Councilman Villa.
Supt. Smith reported that he could purchase a good grade of
granite at 50¢ per 4^:Yds. locally, and outlined a partial
fist of streets badly in need of repairs. Mr. Goode of Highway
Dept. will be contacted to see if State Funds will help in
repairs. Further action on the culvert at Main & Pottery will
be held until next financial statement is prepared.
Mrs. Lucile Goulart was app~~ointed to serve on recreation
commission on motion by Councilman Bartlett, seconded by Council-
man Davidson.
V3arrants audited by the committee were approved & ordered paid
on motion Councilman Bartlett, seconded by Councilman Villa,
Carried.
Clerk's and Treasurer's reports approved on motion Councilman
Seitz, seconded Councilman Bartlett, carried.

Sewer and trash pickup charges are to be investigated and
charged to those who receive these services.
No further business appearing, the meeting adjourned at
9:80 PM on motion Councilman Davidson.
