HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-26-1959 City Council Minutes23 COUNCIL t'~ETING JANUi=.RY 26, 1959 The City Council of the City of Elsinore met on the date above written and was called to order at 7~30P6Fi vrith fiiayor French presiding. Invocation was delivered by Rev. Carl Schmitt, Counei]man Seitz led in the Pledge of Allegiance & Salute to the Flag. Minutes of the Council meeting of January 12 were read and approved as read. Several communications were read by the clerk. The need for a second police car was discussed. Councilmen Bartlett and Davidson opposed. Lakeside Chevrolet offered a car for ~g75. A motion was made by Seitz and seconded by Villa to inspect the car offered by Lakeside. Results of the voting are as follovrs; Bartlett & Davidson no Villa, Seitz, French Aye Under unfinished business, Urdinance #386 Amending i#268 was read for the second time. It was adopted with a motion by Seitz, seconded by Bartlett. Resolution #970 protesting the closing of the Santa Fe Station was adopted vaith a motion by Bartlett, seconded, Davidson. A call for bids to furnish a new police car, trading in 1955 model on motion by Villa, seconded by Bartlett, and carried. Ordinance to prohibit parking, oer request of Chief udoodside on motion Davidson, seconded by Bartlett. Mayor French reported on League in Banning, Jan. 19th., meeting devoted mostly to recreation matters. Mr. Uilla to contact Riverside City Director of Recreation. Matter of replacing Goodwin as City Clerk foregoing appointment of administrator for the present time was discussed. Yviayor French read several applications. Iviotion by Villa, seconded by Bartlett that the position of office supervisor by filled until nem= City Clerk is sworn in. Motion by Villa, seconded by French that hlrs. Kunkle be employed to fill the position thus created for a probationary period of approximately 30 days from Feb. 9th, at a salary of jy300 per month. The f~:ayor called for a roll call vote on the motion which resulted as follows; Bartlett Passed Davidson No Seitz, Villa, French Aye I~.otion by Villa, seconded by Davidson that ll^!iss Planchon~s salary be increased to ~p290 per month. Warrants audited by committee were approved and ordered paid on motion by Seitz, seconded by French. br. Snider asked that sewers be installed for Adobe St, sub-division. Action was deferred for consultation. No further business appearing, the meeting adjourned at 9~45PM with a motion by Bartlett, seconded by Villa.
