HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-22-1960 City Council Minutes167 Council Meeting August 22, 1960 The City Council of-the City of Elsinore met in regular session on August 22, 1960, and was called to order at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor -Bartlett presiding. Invoreat3:on was delivered by Councilman Yarborough, and Councilman e=~`~-`.~---Davidson led thePledge of Allegiance. ' . :, Roll call found all five councilmen .present. Attorney Kelley also in attendance. The minutea.of Aug. 8 and 11th, were approved ss read. Chamber. On motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Hitt, Councilmen Yarborough & Berry to attend Riverside Co. Water Asso. luncheon on _._ ~~ Aug. 2lt. carried. A donation of X300 to the Elsinore 4alley Western, Days was authorized on motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Gouncllman Yarborough, carried. On motion Councilman Davidson, seconded Councilman Berry, carried, the Chamber of Commerce was granted a $29.65 refund for water service. Mayor Bartlett appointed Councilmen Yarborough and Berry to work with the Jr. Chamber. of Commerce in trying to promote a winter training camp for baseball. Mike Milts offered ten acres of ground for afield, to be developed by team. T. R. Morrow's complaint against J. Merriefield~a use of sidewalk read also J. Merriefiald's letter of explanation. Clerk to acknowledge both. The discussion of Ellis St. started with D. R. Crane explaining that the grades were sat for these streets years ago. Mr. Bartlett pointed out that the grade xas officially accepted in 1951. Mr. Hodgson and Mr. Bittle voiced their opinions on the installation of a ramp for entrance & exit to their ya¢~.Mr. Hodgson requested that the plan for improvement to their street be submitted to them in writing. Mr. Kegley stated that city equipment should not enter private property unless permission is in writing. Mr. I~Iiltts application for a card room license was held to next meeting on motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Hitt and carried, with the explanation that card license ordinance is being revised. Mr. Milts suggested fee of 100 for first table and $50 other. Petition of Morth Lowell St, residents was referred to Councilman Yarborough. Mr. Rimoli~s petition for the removal oY the railroad tracks on Railroad Avenue & relocation of stockyard was referred to a committee consisting oP Councilmen Yarborough & Berry & City Attorney Kegley for for study. Resolution 1025, authorizing signature of Mayor on Freeway Agreement passed on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Davidson. Resolution 1026, setting budget for 1960/61 fiscal year passed on motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Yarborough, carried. Resolution 1027, authorizing signatures on annual street report carried on motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Hitt. Resolution 1028, renewing radio & teletype agreements,-carried on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Berry., ~ss~ Warrants audited by the committee were approved and ordered paid on motion Councilman Berra, seconded Counoilman Yarborough, carried. The Clerk's & Treasurer's reports for July were accepted on motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Yarborough, carried. K. C. Scott!ts request for permission to leave the state during Sept., was granted:on motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Yarborough, carried. On motion Conncilmaaa Yarborough, seconded Councilman Berry, carried, Henry Washington's vacation request to start on Sept, 6th. & return Sept. 22nd. .Councilman Henry reported that the deflnoridation plant. is cheek~s~ out fYne. On motion 9lanncilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Berry, carried, the 'a new salaxy schedule to take effect: Sept. 1st.
