HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-13-1961 City Council MinutesCOUNCIL MEETING NOVEMBER 13, 1961 The City Council of the City of Elsinore met in regular session on Nov®mber 13, 7.961, and was called to order at 7:3o P.M, with Mayor Bartlett presiding. Invocation was delivered by Rev. Davis & the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Berry. Roll call Pound all five councilmen present, Attorney Dougherty also in attendance. The minutes of October 23 and November 6 were accepted as read. Warrants audited by the committee were approved & ordered paid on motion 4ovncilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Stewart. On motion Gouneilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Steuart, car. $150 to be contributed to the Chamber of Commerce for use on decorations. The Mayors & Councilmen's meeting in Soboba on Nov. 16 to be attended by It on motion Councilman Stewart, seconded Councilman Berry & car. The Board of Trade meeting in Banning on Dec. 7 to be attended by 5 on motion Councilman. Yarborough,. seconded Councilman Stewart, car. Mrs. Blanchard's complaint on the cat problem was taken under advisement. Communications from the Lion's Club and E.V.M.W.D. were read, and the Currie Co, report on the sewer plant was discussed. Ordinance #lt00 establishing speed zones in-the City of Elsinore was road and adopted on motion Councilman Berry, ascended Councilman Stewart, and passed on-the followingroll call vot®: Ayes: Stewart, Herry, Hitt & Bartlett Noes: Yarborough AHbentsNone Robert Claxton's resignation from the Planning Commission xas accepted with deep regrets on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Berry, car. " On motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Yarborough, car, the purchase of a 30 hp booster pump motor was approved. A4ayor Bartlett announced that approximately X2000 worth of damage had been done to city owned structures during the windstorm, including extensive damage to the reservoir roof. Ordinance X399 raising the business license. tax was read & passed for the first time on motion Cauncilman Berry, seconded Councilman Stewart. The October Police dept, report was accepted as read. Attorney Dougherty's legal opinion on the payment of the dog pound fees was read, .with the attorney to draw up formal resolution ratifying the payment of such fees to the Chief of Police. Mayor Bartlett stated that he had received some 720 calls requesting that he withdraw his resignation, and after much consideration had decided to fi 1 out his term of office and even run for ro-election in April 235: ~ ~3~ On motion Councilman Yarborough, aeconded Councilman Hitt, t3ie Mayor and Attorney Dougherty to attend the White House conference on Nov;. 20.in Los-Angeles. ;r~ Mayor Bartlett, Jerry Gilbertson, Dolores Mayhall, Ben Ragan and-Vivian Plano spoke of increasing the unity, between the ~. Chamber of Commerce and the City in working for the improvement~r of the town.
