HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-12-1961 City Council MinutesCGUNCIL MEETING J[7NE 12y 1961 The City Council of the pity oY Elsinore met in regular session on June 12, 1961, and was called to order at the hour of 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Bartlett presiding. Invocation was delivered by Rev. Easter and the Pledge of Allegiance teas led by Councilman Berry. Roll call found all five councilmen present. Attorney Dougherty also in attendance. The minutes of May 22 and 26th. were approved as read. Warrants audited by the committee were approved and ordered paid on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Stewart, Car. Cerrespondenee read was frcm the Dept. of Justice re. the compliance with the terms of the water permit, from the Health Dept. extending the temporary permit to July 31, 1961. Th. Seventh-Day Adventist Church request for relief from the building permit fee for the new addition to their church was granted on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Berry, car. The Caul'. Water & Telephone Co. request to place conduit from Langstaff to the alley east of Main St. on Graham Ave. was granted on motion Counci]man Yarborough, seconded Ccutidilman Stewart. bn motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Stewart, the request of--the Recreatioxi Conmi.asion for the removal of a tree was granted. Other requests and appointanents for the summer program were held to Thurs. June 15th. On motion Couacilman Berry, seconded Coundlman Yarborough, car, the claim of the Barr Adjustment Co. for X50 for a disputed claim was granted. Counci]man Yarborough to investigate the request of Evaline Morrison for the reconnection of a street light ~ S. Main St. On motion Councilman Yborough, seconded Councilman Berry, the purchasa of an air conditiener for the councilcchambers from the Capitol Improvement Fund at $280. was approved. The purchase of material to cover the council stairs was approved on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Derry. Ordinance #398 providing for a penalty for the removal. of hea3fi+h grading signs was adopted on motion Councilman Berry,'seconded Councilman Stewart and carried en an unanimous roll call vote. Mr. Miller asked the council Yor the postponement of the business license ordinance for further study, and Mr. DiGiacomo asked for 90 ~ in which to rough up a new ordinance to suit the city's needs.
