HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-24-1962 City Council Minutes29a COUNCIL MEETING SEPTENIBER 24, 1962 The City Council of the City of Elsinore met in regular session on September 24, 1962, and was called to order at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Bartlett presiding. Invocation was delivered by Rev. Easter and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Berry. Roll call .found all five councilmen present, with City Administrator Jay V. Guler also in attendance. The minutes of September 10 and September 17 were approved as read. Planning Commission minutes of September 1$ were read and discussed. Mr. Karl Huber requested that something definite be done concerning his application for license to open second-hand store on W. Graham Ave. Mayor Bartlett stated he would give Mr. Huber a.n answer within 4$ hours. Warrants audited by the committee were approved and ordered paid on motion. Councilman Berry, seconded ,,° Councilman Yarborough. The Treasurer's report for August was approved on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Hitt. Letter from E.V.M.W.D, was read offering sale of addressing machine to 'city at cost of 40.00. On motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Stewart, machine to be purchased. '" Request from Veterans of Foreign Wars regarding parade route and police assistance was granted pending clearance with State Highway Dept., on motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Stewart. On motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Stewart, recommendation of Library Boarfl that Mr. Ralph Boller be appointed as new member was approved. Second reading of Ordinance ,405 on annexation carried on an unanimous roll call vote on motion Councilman Berry, Seconded Councilman Yarborough. Second reading of Ordinance #406 maintaining present water rates was carried on an unanimous roll call vote on motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Berry. Councilman Stewart reported that he had checked sewer spreading ground with Mr. Lillie, who feels he should dis- continue lease. Councilman Stewart stated that some im- provement may be necessary to spread sewer water. Mr. Guler, Mr. Anderson and Councilman Berry to accompany Councilman Stewart on inspection of this grozmd. On motion Councilman Stewart, seconded Councilman Hitt, City to secure granite from the County and purchase truck load of oil for black-top. Councilman Yarborough reported that the pipe culvert at Flint and Riley Streets needed to be replaced and Street realigned. NIr. Guler and Councilman Yarborough to make further inspection. Jake Lepper introduced a letter from the local Jaycees requesting license and location for a carnival to be held November $, 9 and 10. It was recommended that this request be taken under advisement until meeting of ~Octoher, $.:;. On motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Berry, the meeting adjourned at 9:P.M ~ m .
