HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-17-1962 City Council Minutes262 COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 17, 1962 The City Council of the City of Elsinore met in special session on April 17, 1962, for the purpose of canvassing the returne of the April 10th election, and was called to order at 7:30 P,M. wlth Mayor Bartlett presiding. Invocation was delivered by Rev. Schmitt, & the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Berry. -Roll call found all five councilmen present. Letter from Jesse Unruh, praising Frank Pasquale's fine work on the water bill was read. On motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Stewart, the Jewish War Veterans granted the use of the City Park on May 20th, The following is the result of the canvass of the ballots: The whole number of votes cast in said City (except absent voter ballots) was 939. The whole number of absent voter ballots cast in said City was 22 making a total of 961 notes cast in said City. That the names of the persons voted for at said election for member of the City Council are as follows: Thomas C. Bartlett Frank E, Anderson Hilbert. H.. Stewart Ray E. Hull Kenneth R. Abbott Ed Neff That the. measure.-voted upon at said election is as follows: Shall each member of the City Council of the City of Elsinore receive a monthly compensation of $50.00 for his services? That the number of votes .given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of such persons above named for the respective offices for which said persons were candidates and for and against the measure were as follows: FOR COUNCILMAN: #1 #2 _„ #3 #4 Ab. Bartlett and Hilbert H. Stewart were then sworn into office by the clerk and seated at the table. Nominations were then opened, by the clerk, for the office of mayor. Councilman Berry nominated Councilman Yarborough and Councilman Hitt nominated Councilman Bartlett, On motion Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Berry and passed on an unanimous1ro11 vote, nominations were closed. Councilman Bartlett was returned to the Mayor's chair on the - following roll call vote: Councilman Stewart - Bartlett Councilman Bartlett - Bartlett Councilman Yarborough.- Yarborough ,Councilman Berry - Yarborough Councilman H&;tty'- Bartlett On motion Councilman Stewart, seconded Councilman Berry, the meeting adjourned at 8:00 P,M.~.
