The City Council of the City of Elsinore met in regular session on
December 23> 1963 and was called to order at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor
Bartlett presidmng.
Invocation was delivered by Councilman Yarborough and the Pledge of
Allegiance was led by Councilman Berry.
Roil call found all five councilmen present. City Manager Guler also
in attendance.
The minutes of December 9, 1963 were approved as read.
Warrants were approved and ordered paid on motion Councilman Yarborough,
seconded Councilman Stewart, car.
Attendance of the Citrus Belt. Div. League of Calif. Cities meeting on
Jan. 8th in Colton was approved on moticon Councilman Berry, seconded
Councilman Stewart, car.
The clerk was instructed to notify the So. Counties Land Co. that Parcel
C, Lot 71 Country Club Heights is not for sale by the City on motion
Councilman Stewart, seconded Councilman Berry, carried.
On motion Councilman Stewart, seconded Councilman Hitt and carried, the
public hearing on the closing of Poe Street continued to Jan. 13, 1964
at 7:30 P.M.

On motion Councilman Stewart, seconded Councilman Berry, car., the request
of Robert Clinkingbeard fora taxi stand in front of Methodist Church approved.
Letter from Els. Taxpayer's Asso. urging renaming of City Park read and
discussed, with Mayor Bartlett also reading a short speech, Motion
Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Berry that the City Park be
renamed the John F. Kennedy Memorial Park, failed on the following roll
call vote:
Ayes: Yarborough, Berry.
Noes: Stewart, Hitt, Bartlett.
Absent: None
Ordinance #416 re. hold harmless clause carried on the first reading on
motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Hitt.
Mr. Jooston's proposal to city held for further study and attorney's review.
John Merrifield presented a proposal for the installation of poles to be
used for banner, Christmas decorations, etc., City Manager to check on cost.
The Recreation Dept. request for a sprinkling system was reported on by
City Manager Guler, who presented an estimate from the City crews, on
motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Stewart, Mr. Anderson to
proceed with work the week of Jan. 6th., 1964.
City Manager Guler reported on the following: Pottery 8 Spring paprr work
being prepared, grading 6 filling of Elm St. progressing, $400, bal. in
Diamond Jubilee Fund with full report forthcoming, Trailer Park Ord. to be
dittoed by office, City Manager to obtain costs for metal street name signs,
and City Attorney negotiating with State Park on agreement for dumping of
chemicals, agreed it should be a one year agreement, also, Library report on
file in office. On motion Councilman Berry, seconded Councilman Stewart,
car, a favorable reply to be sent to the H.H.F.A,
No further business appearing, the meeting adjourned at 9' 0 P.M. on motion
Councilman Yarborough, seconded Councilman Stewart, car "
